Chapter 1 Endstone Mining (Steve POV)
Recently in the world of Minecraftia, a new way of finding diamonds was unearthed. With the new design of the stonecutter, endstone can be shaped in a way so that when you combine it with many other pieces, and then cut it into a diamond form, it can be smelted to form a diamond. So, The End is being stripped of endstone, but we've also found a way to make new endstone with ender pearls and stone. The process is much more complicated there, so I can't explain it myself. I'll just leave it to the scientists.
One rainy day, I had nothing to do, so I decided that I'd take a trip to The End to go mining for some endstone. I grabbed my spare diamond pickaxe and headed for the Ender Portal. When I arrived with the team of miners, we all hopped into the portal.
We walked up the stone staircase to the main land from the obsidian platform, and came over to a group of miners already there. We told them that there shift was over, and took their places. As I was mining, I looked over at the middle of the island, where the portal back home was. I noticed for the first time that there was an irregular shaped object. I stopped mining and walked over to the portal.
As I approached the pillar jutting out of the portal, I realized that it looked like a strange shaped egg. I reached out to mine it, but when I touched it with my pick it disappeared. I looked around for signs of it, and saw it a few blocks behind me. I touched it again, and it teleported a few blocks forward once more. Every time I touched it, it continued to move. Soon enough, I was at the edge of the island, and started bridging out to get it. Then, it dropped down a few blocks, suspended over the void. I jumped down on it, and expected it to hold me, but I was wrong. It broke, and I picked it up.
Then I realized that I was falling into the void.
