Zax-The Wedding!
A/N
So this is another mini-sequel to "Zoe and Max-Miracles" (I've written in that universe so many times, I'm just the most comfortable and prefer it!)
This does give away some of the things that are happening in the sequel to "Miracles," but that's a good thing because it keeps y'all buzzing for it, but I'm not sure when it's going to be up!
I'm writing another version of the Zax wedding in "Miracles," but I thought it'd be fun to write one from our favourite consultant (Zoe's) point of view as well!
The song lyrics at the end are in italics, I don't own them!
Reviews welcome,
Laura xxx
Today my name is going to change to Mrs Walker-Hanna, officially. Madison, Ethan, and Sophia's third names are Walker-Hanna, and I can't wait to change my name to that as well. Max is going to be called Walker-Hanna as well.
Max is staying at his old house, with Fletch, Charlie, and Lofty. Robyn, Tess, my sister Lily, and my Mum are staying at our house.
"Mummy!" Madison, my two year-old, bounces into the room.
"Hey little one" I smile. Madison is the third of Max and I'd "Little Miracles", they're called Miracles because I thought I couldn't conceive children. Three and a half years ago, though, I found out that I was pregnant with not one, but two babies-Sophia and Ethan. Then Max proposed to me, and the twins were born.
Then, around Christmas time, I found out that I was pregnant again, Max of course, was overjoyed, as was I, but then tragedy struck. My dad was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, terminal thyroid cancer. His last weeks were spent here, at Max and I's house. Dad died a few months before Maddie was born, one of his requests was that we name Madison after his sister, who died a few years ago.
Max and I were planning to get married in the summer, after Maddie was born, but various things happened and we haven't got round to it until now. Our plans of a beach wedding, and a honeymoon (more like holiday with three kids in tow!) have remained the same though, a month at Disneyworld in Florida.
"Hey little one" I smile as she makes herself comfy on the bed. "Are you looking forward to being a flower girl today?"
"Yep! But when can we see Daddy again?"
"Soon, I promise. He rang last night to say goodnight to you, didn't he?" I ask.
"Yes, and I have to be a big girl and look after you" Madison answered seriously.
"Maddie! Come down here, I need your help with something" calls Tess.
"Okay!" calls Maddie.
Robyn and Lily will be up soon, I hope. Robyn isn't exactly a morning person, but I'm sure that my nieces, Any and Poppy, are downstairs already with Tess, Ethan, and Sophia, so they'll get her up!
I'm not having any stylists or anything for my big day, Lily is skilled at applying makeup, and Robyn is going to curl my hair.
"Knock knock" Lily appears at the bedroom door.
"Morning sis, come in" I beam.
"How are you feeling?"
"Nervous. Oh Lil, what if he jilts me?"
"Look, Zee. Max looks at you and you look at him like soppy couples do in romantic comedies, you're made for each other" My sister replies.
"I know, I know." I sigh.
"So, are you going to get out of bed and into that shower or what? It's 6:15, we're due at the beach for 11" Lily informs me.
"We've got bags of time!"
"Lazy bum, no we have not!" Lily snaps.
"Fine," I answer, getting out of bed. "Could you keep an eye on my brood for me? Tess wants their help with something?"
"Yep" Lily answers, handing me my bathrobe and some shampoo. "Now go!"
I have my bath and make my way back into my room.
"Right" Robyn is already changed into her bridesmaid's dress, she's not wearing any makeup though. "It's time for you to get dressed into your wedding gear" she smiled.
"Already?"
"Yes! Then we can do your hair and makeup and stuff"
I get into my wedding dress. It's ankle length, and designer, Victoria Beckham in fact. Robyn, Lily, Lily Chao, Tess, Rita, and I went to London a few months ago. We went to Selfridges, I treated them all to something to eat from the food hall and Robyn suggested we go and have a look at the gowns, just for a laugh. We had a look at the dresses, I spotted an absolutely gorgeous ankle length, white, short-sleeved wedding gown.
From the right shoulder to the left of the waist, there's a trail of white, red, and gold roses sewn onto the dress. Apart from that, it's pure white, I didn't want to go for white at first but Tess persuaded me. Plus, the dress doesn't look too long on me or anything, that's quite a feat for a short person like me!
"You look stunning, Zee!" Lily says when she sees me.
"She will look even more amazing when we've made her up!" says Robyn. "Sit down Zoe" she orders.
I oblige, and close my eyes, at let them get to work.
When my makeup is done, there's a knock at the door.
It's Sophia, holding a plateful of toast, which looks a little burnt.
"Hey Soph! I smile, getting up. "Thank you" I smile as my toddler hands me the plate.
"Sorry we were so long, Ethan burnt it two times" Sophia apologises.
"It's alright" I smile, giving her a cuddle.
"Can I come in?" Sophia asks.
"Yes, as long as you promise to sit on the bed and be a good girl, and stay quiet as a little mouse?" I ask.
"Squeak!"
"I take that as a yes" I reply, taking her hand.
Sophia sits on the bed, chatting away to Robyn, who plays hide and peep with her about ten times in order to keep her entertained.
My hair is tied up in a loose bun, with curls hanging on either side of my face. Attached to the band that holds my hair in place there's a red and white rose.
Finally, I'm all ready.
"You look pretty, Mummy!" says Sophia, who by now is changed into her flower girl dress, which is gold, she has a crown of white roses on her head as well.
"You look pretty too" I smile, as Ethan and Madison bounce into the room. With a lot of bribery, begging, and cajoling, Ethan is wearing a suit, which consists of a white shirt and tie, a purple waistcoat and black jacket and trousers. Sophia is wearing a golden dress as well, with a crown of red roses on her head.
Poppy and Amy come into the room, they're wearing gold dresses with white and red flower crowns on their heads.
"Has anyone got a timer camera? We need a picture of all of us!" Lily says.
"I do" smiles Lily.
Lily puts her phone on the side table and she, Robyn, Tess, my mum, Sophia, Ethan, Maddie, Poppy, and Amy all smile at the camera.
"You look beautiful, Zee, your Dad would be so proud of you today" my Mum informs me, giving me a hug.
"I know he would be, and thank you" I reply.
Sophia tugs at my skirt. "I need a wee!" she announces.
"Right, well get Auntie Robyn or Auntie Lily to take you to the toilet, and be quick because the wedding car is coming soon!" I reply. I don't fancy trying to fit into the bathroom with my dress on!
Charlie is coming round soon, obviously my Dad isn't here anymore so he's giving me away.
It's quarter to eleven, we have to get going soon as it's about fifteen minute's ride to the beach, and I'm sure that the photographer will want to take some pictures of me getting out of the car and things.
I make my way downstairs, and sit on the sofa to wait for the car, careful of my dress. Lily sit down next to me.
"Zee?" she asks.
"Hmm?" I've been lost in my own thoughts.
"Are you okay?" she asks.
"Yeah, I am." Surprisingly, my nerves have disappeared.
"Good" Lily smiles. She's wearing a deep purple dress with a white flower crown, Robyn's is pink and Tess's is blue.
"The car's here!" Poppy calls.
"Pipe down!" Tess replies.
"Leave her, it's a special day so she's bound to be hyper!" I reply.
For our transport, I picked a purple super stretch limo. I didn't want a Rolls Royce or anything, so decided to go for the unusual option.
Charlie arrives, a little late. "Sorry, there was an emergency RTC at the ED, Rebecca and I had to get down there quickly, she's on her way to the beach now" he informs me. "You look beautiful, by the way" he smiles, and gives me a hug and kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you" I smile.
We all troop out into the car, and everyone else apart from me gets in. I get in after all of them, because otherwise it would be a struggle for all of us to get out of the car.
"Sophia, stop being a fidget-bottom!" my Mum informs my daughter.
"Granny, I'm not! My heat melt isn't on properly!"
"Seat belt. Come here, I'll adjust it for you" Tess replies.
We get to the beach and I get out of the car.
I spot four figures on the pagoda : The registrar, Max, and Lofty. I take a deep breath, this is all becoming so real now.
As I suspected, once we're all out of the car, the photographer snaps several pictures of us, including a lovely one of Sophia adjusting Madison's flower crown, and another of Charlie ruffling Ethan's hair with a grin on his face.
The Wedding March starts to play, and Charlie takes my arm.
"Ready?"
"As I'll ever be" I reply.
"Good luck" Mum says, squeezing my arm, and makes her way to her seat, holding Ethan's hand.
"Thank you" I smile.
Robyn, Tess, and Lily position themselves behind me. Robyn hands me my bouquet, a small spray of lilies, carnations, and roses.
Sophia, Poppy, Amy and Maddie begin to walk forward, scattering flower petals across the pink (yes pink!) carpet leading to the pagoda.
Charlie and I begin to walk forward, my bridesmaids follow.
When our little party is about half way down the carpet, Max turns around. He looks very handsome in his purple tie and waistcoat, with a black jacket.
His face when his sees me is one of amazement. My eyes meet his and I smile at him.
We get to the pagoda, Charlie lets me go with a pat on the arm and I smile. I hand Sophia my bouquet, and take Max's hand.
"You look amazing, Zoe" Max informs me.
"You don't look too bad yourself, Mister" I whisper back.
The Wedding March finishes and the ceremony begins.
It's time to say our vows.
"Zoe Louisa Hanna, do you take Max Walker to be your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health, for richer for poorer?"
"I do"
"Max Jonathan Walker, do you take Zoe Hanna to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, for richer for poorer?"
"I do" Max replies, looking me straight in the eyes.
We exchange rings.
"Congratulations, you are now man and wife, you may kiss the bride." Says the registrar.
Max smiles and puts his hands on my waist and kisses me, the photographer takes a picture.
"So we're officially hitched. Matched. Married." I say after we've come up for air.
"We are" I smile as we turn to our family and friends.
We make our way back down the carpet/aisle, hand in hand.
Confetti falls on the sand beneath our feet. The bouquet is thrown and Lily Chao catches it.
"Oooh, I wonder if Ethan will propose to her sometime?" I ask Max as we cross the road to get to the hotel where the wedding breakfast and reception is being held.
"I think it's bad luck to propose at a wedding, so I hope he won't tonight!" Max answers. I laugh and nod at my new husband in agreement.
Instead of everyone going away after the breakfast and then coming back for the reception later on, all of us are just staying in the hotel, luckily it's a nice day, and the hotel we're staying at has a huge garden for the kids to go crazy in.
We get to the hotel and we are seated for breakfast.
It's time for Lofty's speech.
"Right, I will keep this brief as Max has already bored us all senseless for the last 20 minutes about how much he loves Zoe, blah blah blah. Max mate, we're all so happy that you and Zoe have finally tied the knot, at the ED it's clear that you're meant for each other," at this he smiles down at Robyn (they got together a while ago)
"Anyway, congratulations to you both." He finishes.
I go up to Max and I's hotel room. We've got a suite, in fact, a room for out three children and a bathroom too.
We're off to Florida tomorrow, and I'm just checking our suitcases for the final time when Max comes in.
"Are you okay Mrs Walker-Hanna?"
"I sure am Mr Walker-Hanna!" I grin, kissing him. Our kiss gets a little heated…
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" he asks.
"Probably! Can you help me get my dress off?" I wink.
A while later, it's almost time for the reception.
"Well we made use of the king sized bed" grins Max, long after we're finished.
"I thought that we may as well do it do because you'll probably be too drunk to remember anything later on!" I tease.
"I don't want a hangover on the plane so I'm not going to get too bladdered!" Max scowls.
"Touchy touchy!" I answer, getting out of bed. "C'mon, it's nearly dinner time!"
We get dressed and go back downstairs. For the reception I've chosen to wear a ¾ length pink dress, Max is wearing a casual shirt and tie.
"You two look nice" smiles Tess.
"Thanks" I smile as we make our way to the room where the reception is being held.
"Mummy, Daddy, where were you?" Madison asks, running into my arms.
I pick her up and twirl her around. "We were, er-" I look at my husband for help.
"We were talking" Max says, saving me.
We cut our wedding cake, and people start to eat.
Soon, it's time for Max and I's first dance as a couple.
The song we picked to dance to is "You Are In Love" by Taylor Swift.
I make my way up to the dancefloor, and Max follows me. I step into his arms and the song begins to play.
"One look, dark room
Meant just for you
Time moved too fast
You played it back
Buttons on a coat
Light-hearted joke
No proof, not much
But you saw enough
Small talk, he drives
Coffee at midnight,
The light reflects
The chain on your neck
He says look up
And your shoulders brush
No proof, one touch
You felt enough
You can hear it in the silence, silence
You can feel it on the way home, way home
You can see it with the lights out, lights out
You're in love, true love"
Other couples join us on the dancefloor, Max and I gaze into each other's eyes.
"I love you you know" I tell him.
"I know."
