AN: Below is the prologue for Pegasus' Wings. It is a SuperS alternate reality, based on Rini and her struggles. It will hopefully develop into a Rini/Helios romance but is also full of other favourite characters such as Serena, Darien, Andrew and the Sailor Scouts. Also, I've chosen to use dubbed names for this story because I want to use Rini, instead of ChibiUsa. I know I'm going against my norms, but I decided since I don't have to use Usako in this story, it might be okay. I am also going to try and make an effort to use that horrible word... scout. However, just to warn you, I may alternate between scout and senshi, only because senshi sounds much more powerful :) Arigato Minna-chan! (I know... I know... poor use of Japanese grammar! Just trying to be friendly here! For all of you Japanese perfectionists ... Arigato Minna-san!)

Prologue : The feathers are falling


Rini lay in bed, looking up at the glowing moon just outside her bedroom window. She thought that it seemed almost possible to reach out and touch it. She missed her real home. Although, she had many friends who loved her here in the twenty-first century, she longed for her real mother and father in the thirtieth.

As much as Rini liked living on this planet, she missed the moon kingdom and hated being torn between two generations. Going back and forth was leaving her spread fairly thin and the pressure was slowly catching up with her. She wasn't feeling herself lately and Pegasus wasn't helping either. Rini found it difficult to keep their meetings a secret. She desperately wanted to share her burden, but was afraid that if she told someone, Pegasus would stop appearing to help her during battles, or worse, disappear forever.

Even though she hated to admit it, Rini was in love with Pegasus. Perhaps that was why she refrained from telling the girls about him; she couldn't stand it if he left. Her reoccurring dreams were trying. If only she could make some sense out of everything. It seemed as though, the harder she tried, the more confused she became.

Rini sighed to herself. Across the hall she could hear Serena snoring loudly. Rini found it hard to believe that this meatball head would someday become her future mother, Neo-Queen Serenity. Her mother seemed so different from this strange girl she called her Rini just couldn't seem to find answers to her questions, no matter where she looked. She couldn't find anyone to confide in. Rini didn't know who to trust, let alone anyone who could possibly understand her feelings. Things were so dangerous here in this time, as well as at home. Serena didn't listen to her and she also had Darien who took up a lot of her time and her mother and father were centuries away!

Rini heard a faint beeping noise from the corner and quickly brushed a small tear away. She rose and pushed a wad of clothes aside. Luna P! Rini hugged her best friend tightly and apologized profusely.
Hmmm...' she thought to herself, maybe I should go to see Sailor Pluto. If only I knew where to find her.' Rini needed Pluto's help the most. Perhaps the guardian of time could help the small girl to organize her thoughts and solve her problems.

Rini knew that she could tell Trista about Pegasus, and just maybe, she could offer some extra information. Rini returned her gaze to the moon. Trista...? It's Small Lady.....', she paused for a moment, thinking to herself. If you can hear me Trista, please come for a visit soon. I'm so lonely. Rini whispered, praying quietly to the moon, before beginning to sob quietly.
