Rain

Disclaimer: I don't own NCIS

"It's been a while since it rained," Tony said to Ziva. They were sitting on the balcony outside of his apartment; their hands barely brushed together. Ziva didn't say anything in response, but her demeanor became softer. "Hey, you okay?"

"Yes Tony," was Ziva's response. It didn't sit well with Tony so he moved a little closer to her.

"Are you sure about that," he asked softly. Ziva tried to pull away, but it was a half hearted action. "Come on Zee, open up, you're safe." At that moment, tears started falling down Ziva's cheeks silently. Tony reacted by pulling Ziva against his chest and holding her tightly, she relented and began sobbing. Tony rocked back and forth and talked soothingly to his partner and after she had cried all she could, she detached from Tony and leaned back into her chair.

"Thank you Tony," she said softly as she wiped the tears off of her face.

"No problem sweet cheeks," Tony responded, not wanting to push her. A comfortable silence filled the air and the two sat in each other's presence for a time.

"My father came to make peace with me, I did not trust that, and I pushed him away. I should not have done that Tony. Why did I do that?"

Tony sat silently for a few seconds, surprised by how candid Ziva was being. "Your past experience said to, but now you have to make peace with yourself, you can't live like this forever Zee."

"I know, but it is not going to happen overnight."

"That's not what I'm saying should happen. Now, are you staying the night or what?" Ziva looked at Tony; her face had become substantially happier.

"Sure, do you have some sweatpants I can change into?"

"I sure do Sweet cheeks," Tony took Ziva's hand and led her to his bedroom and handed her a shirt and a pair of sweatpants. Ziva thanked him and went to the bathroom to change. Meanwhile, Tony changed into comfortable clothes too and waited for Ziva to reappear. "So what movie would you like to watch," Tony asked when Ziva was finished changing. Ziva looked at Tony and smiled gratefully.

"You choose my little hairy butt."
