And now time for something completely different! Hello, everyone, and welcome to the newest story on my account, PikaBoy! The idea just popped into my head, so I began to write down plans for the story. This story has elements of another series of games (which serve as an inspiration for this story), plenty of humor, and of course, Pokeshipping! (Although there won't be much of it as there is in my other two stories.) Anyways, in the first chapter, we are going to meet the three main characters of the story, and their relations to one another. I hope you all enjoy it! Let's get going with the story itself!
It was the year 2082, and the world is a very different place from what it is now.
All of the world's nuclear bombs have been destroyed. Doctors have found a cure for cancer. Nintendo is the only video game company in existence. Pokemon battling has been made illegal, but humans still own Pokemon as pets and for self-defense. After human and Pokemon relationships have been perfected, the already technologically advanced Kanto region decided to do more research on how far they could go with technology. A pair of doctors from the Pallet Hills named Dr. Oak and Dr. Rocket lead the Technological Revolution for nearly three decades. However, it was going to all change when the world found out what Dr. Rocket did…
It was a rainy night in the Pallet Hills, and Dr. Oak was finishing cleaning up after a busy day of working with his partner, Dr. Rocket. They were currently working on a new machine that can help people clean an entire room in under an hour. So far, it had the opposite effect and made the lab even messier than it was before.
"Phew!" the old man said to himself, "Now that is done with, I can finally get some rest!" he was about to head to his bedroom, he heard a knock on the door.
"Hm?" Dr. Oak said, "Who might be wanting to see me this late at night?" He opened the door to find a young boy with black hair and brown eyes standing in the doorway. He was wearing short jeans, a black t-shirt, and a red baseball cap. Dirt and bruises and cuts covered the boy's body. On the shoulder of the boy was a Pichu.
"Hello," the boy said, "Are you by any chance, Dr. Oak?"
"Why yes," the good doctor said to the kid, "Who might you be?"
"Ashton Ketchum Rocket, but you can call me Ash for short," the boy said to Dr. Oak.
Dr. Oak was wide-eyed. He asked the black-haired boy, "Are you by any chance related to my assistant, Dr. Giovanni Rocket?"
"Yeah," Ash said before putting his head down, "I am his son. Although I wish I weren't."
Oak stood there in stunned silence, "Why might that be?"
"Well," Ash said to Dr. Oak, "It is a long story that began two years ago," With that, he began a flashback.
It was the year 2080, and a four-year-old Ash Ketchum was sitting in the living room watching TV with his mother, Delia. They were watching a news report about Dr. Oak and Dr. Rocket revealing their greatest new invention to the world, and if what was unfolding on the screen was any indicator, all of the attention was on Oak. Dr. Rocket was getting angry that he wasn't getting as much attention as his assistant was. Just then, Ash's father, Giovanni Rocket, came through the door. Ash ran towards him to congratulate him on his interview that day. However, Giovanni greeted his son with a slap across the face!
"Shut up you little brat!" Dr. Rocket said to his son before shoving him into the wall to confront his wife. Ash watched in horror as he beat her up and asked her what she was doing.
"I was just watching your interview on the TV," she said before her husband slapped her.
"Get back in the kitchen and make me some dinner!" Giovanni shouted before seeing Ash shake in fear.
"What are you looking at, kid?" he asked fiercely before picking his kid up by the neck, taking him to his room, throwing him in, and locking the door.
"I don't know what happened to him," Ash said to Dr. Oak, "After I watched that interview and saw how upset he looked, he just… changed!"
"Well," Dr. Oak said to the boy, "Do you at least remember the last time Dr. Rocket did something nice to you when it was just you and him?"
Ash shook his head, "Not alone," he said, "The only times I remembered him having a smile on his face when he was around me was when mom was around. And even then, he was never with us due to all of the stress he had due to working with you."
Oak stood there for a minute, thinking, "I think that Dr. Rocket began to lash out at you and Delia because of all of the pressure that he stored up because he is sick and tired of being overshadowed by me and my work. What he did to you and your mother the first night was pretty bad, you know."
"It gets worse," Ash said, continuing his flashback.
It was an afternoon in 2081, and a five-year-old Ash was sitting at the edge of a playground, watching the other kids play. Ash thought that he would be popular because his father was one of the most important men in the Kanto region, but he was wrong. The truth was that the other kids HATED him because he was related to one of the most important men in Kanto! They thought because Ash wa the son of Dr. Oak's assistant, they felt that he would be less desirable because he is not a leader. Instead, the other kids decided to worship a kid named Gary, who came from a wealthy family.
"Hey there kid," a voice said, interrupting Ash's thoughts on how unpopular he was despite being related to the assistant to the most beloved man in Kanto. "What's the matter?" Ash looked around to see that a Pichu was standing right next to where he was sitting.
"Oh nothing much," Ash said, "Just that I am one of the least popular kids on this playground and the fact that my father, one of the most respected people in the world, treats my mother and me like we are Trubbish. WAIT! Did you talk to me?!"
Pichu nodded and said, "Sorry if I scared you." mareepishly.
"Oh, I am not scared," Ash said, "I mean, seeing a Pokemon talk is cool!"
"Really?" Pichu asked. Ash nodded before asking Pichu how he learned to speak English.
"I was born with the ability," Pichu said, "Instead of humans hearing parts of my name over and over again, they heard me speak their language. They were pretty freaked out by it, so I turned to my parents to find out what was wrong. It turned out to be a bad move. When I told them that humans understood what I was saying, they beat me up before leaving me for dead. But I survived."
The Pichu's story saddened the raven-haired boy, so he decided to ask him, "Hey, Pichu! Why don't I take you home? I am sure that my parents won't mind.
"You mean it?" Pichu asked with big eyes. Ash nodded before picking him and placing him on his shoulder.
"Pichu," he said to the yellow mouse, "I think this is the start of the best friendship in the region!"
"So that is where you met that Pichu," Oak said.
"That's right!" Pichu said. He reached his tiny little arm out to shake his hand, but the old man collapsed before he got the chance. Ash got him back up before resuming his story.
A couple of hours later, Ash walked home from school and hesitated before opening the door.
"What is it?" Pichu asked his friend.
"Oh, nothing," Ash said, "But I think that you should hide in my bag for the time being."
Pichu sighed, "Alright, But only for a little bit, for I am claustrophobic." Ash nodded as the little mouse hopped off of his shoulder and into his backpack, peeking his head out, but not too much so that he could be noticed by Ash's father. Ash gave the mouse a warm smile before heading into the house to see his parents again. The moment Ash walked in the door, his father ran up and hit his son.
"You are late!" Dr. Rocket shouted at Ash.
"I don't know what you mean dad," the boy said, "I am on time."
Dr. Rocket slapped him across the face before shouting, "No you were not, Ashton! You were late by a second!"
"Well, being a second late isn't that bad, Dad," Ash said, "And me being late is not a reason to be that angry for,"
Giovanni growled before taking off his belt and whipping his son across the face. "Never use a preposition at the end of a sentence, Ashton!"
"A prep-WHAT?" Ash said. Dr. Rocket responded to his son's comment by whipping him several more times. Delia, hearing her son being abused by her husband, went to see what was going on. Meanwhile, in the bag, Pichu, seeing how his father treated Ash, had enough. As Delia was trying to separate her husband and son, the Tiny Mouse Pokemon jumped out of Ash's bag and shocked Dr. Rocket! Delia looked shocked as Ash took that time to escape to his room, with Pichu right behind him.
"Thanks for helping me out, Pichu," Ash said to the talking mouse.
"You're welcome, Ash," Pichu said as the two went into Ash's room.
"While my mom was happy that I made a new friend," Ash said, "Dad, on the other hand, wasn't. He told me to get rid of Pichu. I, of course, didn't do it, and I spent the next year being abused by my father. And he said if my mom ever tried to leave him or report the abuse, he was going to lie to the cops and tell them that me and mom commited a serious crime so that they would arrest us. And that was only if he was wanting to be nice to us that day,"
Dr. Oak looked at Ash before asking him to continue.
"I won't go into much of what happened between the time I met Pichu and today, but I can tell you what happened when I decided that enough was enough."
Earlier that day, Ash was in his room, talking to Pichu on how horrible his day went. That day, he was pushed into the mud by fellow students because he just wanted to join their team, and got beaten up by his father for the incident (plus a couple of others that happened that day, including getting ONE question incorrect on his math quiz), and got served his least favorite food (instant ramen) for lunch. Ash even showed Pichu the wounds!
"Alright," Pichu said to his friend, "We need to leave this place! Tonight!"
"But Pichu," Ash said, "If I leave, dad said that he would get me and my mom arrested or worse. And since he is one of the most respected men in Kanto, the police will buy any excuse he makes for what we have done wrong!"
"I don't care about that," the little yellow mouse said to the six-year-old boy, "Your home life is terrible, so we need to get away from your scumbag of a father!"
Ash sighed and finally said, "Alright, Pichu. We are getting the hell out of here tonight! But where are we going to go?"
"Well," Pichu said, "You said your father works with Dr. Oak, the most respected man in Kanto, right? So how about we head there?!"
"Good idea!" Ash said. And with that, they started their plans to get away from Ash's abusive father.
"After my parents fell asleep, Pichu and I packed our bags and ran through this rain to you." Ash said to his father's boss, "And I was wondering, do you mind taking me in so I can never see my father ever again?"
Oak hugged the six-year-old boy before telling him, "Of course, Ash. And the next time that I see your father, I am going to fire him on the spot!"
"Thank you, Oak," Ash said as he hugged the old professor, "Thank you for helping me get away from Dr. Rocket."
And with that, we are done with the first chapter of PikaBoy! In the next section, I am going to introduce to you the eight things that are going to set the events of the story into action, the PokeSuits!
