"Again", the instructor shouted as he knocked his student to the Floor. It had gone like this for hours as the student attacked and the instructor parried the blows with ease. Each charge ended in a riposte and a clash of Gunblades.

"That hurt", the student screamed as he stood, "I oughta kick your butt so hard…" He charged at the instructor expecting a parry, he thought, no he new he would hit him this time. Instead the instructor took a graceful sidestep and smacked his student on the rear, sending him to the floor again.

"Control, you need to learn control", the instructor scolded, "you'll never beat me if you act like this." The instructor considered him student as he rested his matte black gunblade on his left shoulder "Your to zealous, you've bested me in all tested of armed combat save this one. Why is it so hard for you to learn patience? You'll never beat an opponent that bides his time if you fight like this."

"I'm not the one that charged off out of the detention facility to fight the Sorceress and your counseling ME on patience", the student fumed, "what makes that so different Hmmm?"

"That was along time ago", the instructor reflected, "before I understood what it really meant to do something meaningful"

The sound of clapping could be heard from the door as a newcomer entered. "Telling old war stories again ehh old friend?", the Head master said, "Seifer, when will you ever forgive yourself?" The Head master turned to the young boy propped up on his hands on the floor, "And how are we today Timothy, up to no good again?"

"No", Timothy smirked through the fencing mask, "Just…training with father again. I just can't seem to beat him anymore. Seems like he always knows what I'm gonna do before I do it and all he does is stand there."

"I seem to remember someone else who had a problem with patience," the Head Master said grinning at Seifer, "Why don't you let me have a crack at your boy Seifer?"

"Whatever, if you think you can change him like you changed me then go for it," Seifer laughed as he left the room, "oh Squall, just try not to send him home the way you sent me home, Fujin would kill me."

"Well let us see if we can't do something about your antisocial behavior", Squall chuckled as he walked over to the wall and picked up his revolver, "Your making excellent progress you know. My son says that your skills are amazing." Squall thought for a moment, "Did you know the next SeeD exam is fast approaching? I hope to see you and Matthew ready to lead a team when that day comes, but you have to finish this part of the course."

"Dad tells me that when he was trying to become a SeeD instructors never got very old and there was no "Patience Evaluation". Why did you change that?" Timothy absent-mindedly asked as he fished out a fencing mask for his mentor.

"Well to answer the first question, I allow older persons to stay on as instructors because age does have it's benefits," Squall paused, "As for the patience evaluation, we find that it allows us to weed out dangerous students before they go to far, like…like…"

"Like Dad", Timothy broke in, "I guess I understand what you mean. He was single-handedly responsible for a lot of stuff back during the last war."

"Enough talk", Squall finally said as he pulled on his Fencing mask, "Brace yourself!"
