I felt relief when I found my future self's laptop; I opened it and felt a wave of stress. Password? I typed in my usual 'Doctor42' but that didn't work. I wondered if Kelly's power expanded to software, but, decided to type in things he and I had in common. Alisha. I was in.
Automatically, a video popped up.
"Either you're Alisha and far more clever and nosy than I pegged you for or you're me. The hiding spot for the laptop was pretty redundant, yeah?" He looked off into the distance, "I didn't used to ramble when I got nervous. One of the great things you're probably going to pick up from Alisha," He swallowed, "You may think that this is a time loop, like in every good sci-fi, but, it's not how it works in the real world. Don't worry about it. I made it so I could come back and save Alisha from Tim, but, knowing the group, it's not going to be the last time she needs saving. I need you to do that, but, you don't need to go back in time," He smiled, "I… I w… I should have written note cards. I was fine until I turned on the camera. That's something you don't get from Alisha. I want to tell you to keep being superhoodie- you'll do a lot of good. Just… Just know when to stop. Please. For her."
The screen went blank.
"Simon. What are you doing?"
I twisted my torso from my position perched on the bed to see her come from the lift.
"I found his laptop."
Alisha's mouth downturned. She froze. I waited.
"Does he…" She stopped the question I really wanted her to ask.
"He left a message. For us," I knew me- he wouldn't make it so it would delete after one message.
I opened the start menu, under the pinned was a video labeled 'To the Past.' I opened it and gestured for her to sit next to me. I turned the computer to her.
"I'm still going to be superhoodie," I said once the video ended.
"I know. I remember how happy you were after you cut you hand."
"It wasn't the cut that made me happy," She laughed at me.
"I know. I was just cutting it down. You will, know when to stop right?"
"Teach me."
