Katara crawled out of bed, her eyes itchy and chest heavy after another sleepless night. She couldn't sleep, every time she closed her eyes she saw him, she saw the way his muscles rippled when he trained, the crooked smile he gave when it was only them together, the look in his eye as they lay in bed. Blinking back tears she got dressed, finally she would do it.

It had been a year since it had happened. A whole year since Azula had escaped from prison and attacked them. A year since Zuko had thrown himself in front of Katara again when Azula had thrown lightening at the water tribe girl. A year since Katara had clutched his body to her sobbing as she felt him slip away.

Walking through the palace Katara made it to the garden, walking past the fountain with her eyes closed. She'd not bent since then, it was too painful making her think of him, of how happy she'd been when they'd trained together back then.

"Katara it is good to see you up and about" Iroh called out as he saw her but Katara didn't reply. Everyone was worried about her "Why don't you come to my room after and we'll have a nice cup of jasmine tea?" He asked but got no reply as Katara carried on walking.

She climbed the small mountain that Toph had made at the bottom of the garden, the one that Zuko had proposed to her at the top of, blinking the tears away Katara climbed until she reached the top, looking around she could see the palace, the people rushing around it. the small lake where the turtle ducks swam

"I'm sorry Sokka" She whispered taking off her necklace and placing it on a rock before she walked to the edge. Looking down she took in a deep breath and fell forwards. She felt the air whip around her as she fell and closed her eyes

Opening her eyes Katara found Zuko stood in front of her, without waiting for him to say anything she threw herself into his arms as the tears fell and he stroked the top of her head

"I love you" Zuko whispered into her ear while she sniffed leaning back to look at him

"Never leave me again" Katara cried

"I won't" Zuko gave his crooked smile as he leaned forwards and kissed her
