Jake's Last Letter
Jake isn't around any more. But he left a letter for his family…
To Mom and Dad… and to Tom, if he's been a good boy.
I'm sorry if you ever read this.
It means I've died. Or worse… been captured.
I gave this to Cassie to keep safe.
And I devoted my life to keeping her safe.
To keeping you safe.
If you read this, it means I've failed. I'm not around any more to keep any of you safe.
If you read this, there are a few things I'd like to tell you.
First of all, I love you. You're my family. If I died saving you, know that I died in peace. Know that I can rest easy.
Secondly, I want to ask a favour. Take care of Cassie for me. She's my sea and sky and everything in between. I don't want her to be alone. You don't need to tell her how much I loved her. She knows. And I can't put it into words, anyway.
Third and maybe most important. If I've died, then I probably died fighting for freedom. Don't let my death stop you. Keep fighting. Never give up. Don't let my death bring any of you down.
And if the worst has happened, and I've been caught, don't get captured trying to save me. if I've been captured, I only ask you to kill me if given the chance.
Let me escape the horror of being a host. Let me escape betraying you all. I'd rather be dead than a host.

Tell the Animorphs that they've been brave. I couldn't have done any of it with any other team.
Tell Ax that I won't be around any longer to disagree when he calls me "Prince".
Tell humanity never to surrender. Tell the Andalites that they are a bunch of fools. Tell the Yeerks that I'll see them in hell.
