Author's Note:I've always had a fascination with sadistic Vexen, so it's about time I've tried my hand at portraying him.
Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts. However, if I did, Axel would have gotten a whoopin' for incinerating Vexen.
The screeches pierced through the air, like a blade- sharp and cutting. It resembled the wails of the unfortunate souls that resided in the Underworld. How it echoed off the metal walls of the lab- the agony so evident, so unrelenting. It was as if they were in Hades' domain itself.
Now, most would clutch their hands over their ears and flinch away at the shrill cries. Most /sane/ entities, at least. Vexen, however, did nothing of the sort. Rather, he relished in the girl's shrieks. Marinating in the pleas and the curses that she flung at him. They were all music to his ears... And, he was their conductor.
When he would raise his scalpel over the bare, tender flesh of her chest, her begging would transform into a mezzo soprano screech. When he would graze the knife along her skin, teasingly tracing it over her heart, the shaking vibrato in her voice would accompany the high-pitched squeals. It quivered, but stayed well on key. Her body was now attempting to break free of the restraints that held her down to the steel table. The rattling and banging that she produced provided her song with a certain rhythm.
Vexen could've sworn his toe was tapping to the beat.
The climax was coming, though. The big finale of his orchestra of one's performance! A twisted smile danced across the Scientist's face; he could hardly control his anticipation, but the time signature needed to be perfect.
"If only No. IX were here to evaluate my musical genius," he muttered under his breath, his grin never faltering.
However, her cries suddenly began to ascend in key, reverting back into her former tenor voice. The Scholar snapped his head toward her, frowning. He controlled this show! He was the orchestrator, and he would be the one to decide which note he wanted her to perform! Not. her.
"I did not tell you to cease your beautiful screams."
Cutting his bottle cap green eyes at her, he plunged the scalpel into her chest. An ear-splitting pitch was emitted from the girl's mouth. One that surpassed all other keys she had exemplified during her time there. It was the soprano Vexen had waited for! The one he had yearned to hear! It brought the whole recital together, weaving it into a masterpiece!
The blood flooded out of her chest as Vexen continued to sever down toward her abdomen. It overflowed onto the linoleum floor of his laboratory and pooled around his shoes. The deranged man didn't care in the slightest, though. Her blaring screams were all that engulfed him. They left him in a daze, while her faint rustling against the table served as applause in his mind. He could see the standing ovation they were giving him. All for him.
But, all too soon, the music had stopped. The show had ended, and the applause was no more. It was pure silence. All except a distant weak string of thumps.
The Academic let his gaze fall on the organ that pulsed ever so slightly inside the cadaver. There was his reward for the piece he had composed. Right at his fingertips. He cut the sternum before carefully breaking through her chest cavity. There it was. What he longed for. Craved for. He brushed his gloved fingertips over the heart, savoring the beats it dispensed from beneath his touch.
His foot tapped along with it, causing Vexen to smile broadly. A new song was on the rise.
