'~ ~' are the words of the ring
***********
The flames of the fire were all that lit up the otherwise dark, dank room. The
only occupant sat far from the source of light, his features hidden by shadow,
the only reflection of the light coming from the one ring the person twirled
warily around his forefinger. The ring whispered promises of victory, success
and above all power, eternal power.
~They shall cower before you, defeated. You will rule all of Middle Earth,
there is no other that can match your power let alone conquer you. You are the
mightiest! The strongest! The most powerful! They shall all quake in fear at
the mere sound of your name. ~
In the peacefulness of the night, disregarding the occasional cackle of the
flames the figure laughed. It was not the laughter of joy or contentment but
one of emptiness and was nothing short of hollow. It echoed the stone cold room
and was only interrupted when the only door was abruptly swung open and a
second figure entered. Without looking up the first man continued twirling the
ring, staring into the hypnotising sparkle of the evil band. The figure that
entered moved silently with the occasional thump of his walking stick
connecting with the stone ground.
"Is there a problem white wizard?"
The seated man questioned though his attention was still focused on the tiny
ring of power.
"No my lord, of course not. There was been no problems since your reign as
king."
"That is good to hear."
"Though-" That was enough to gain the man's interest. "There is
rumours my king."
"Rumours? What rumours?"
"The soldiers have heard word of a rebellion from the people."
"Who would be as foolish to defy me?"
"They are desperate my king, desperation overtakes ones logic and
reason."
"Desperate? Am I not a good enough king?"
"No, no." The white wizard was quick to answer. "You are a
mighty king, the best. The people are just blind and ignorant to your
power."
"I see." He paused as if in thought. "Then you should go educate
them."
"Of course my liege. Right away." The older man turned to leave but
paused as his king spoke again.
"Find all who is involved in this uprising." His eyes dropped back
from the back of the white wizard to the ring that sparkled and dazzled somewhat
brighter. "And crush them."
The white wizard grinned, revealing his sharp, yellow teeth. "I would love
nothing more."
"You may go." The standing man bowed low and moved
once more towards the wooden door. "Saruman?" Once again he halted
his movement. "Give no mercy."
To show no disrespect Saruman turned to face his king was more and nodded.
"Of course my lord. No mercy."
The white wizard then opened the door and left, leaving the room in its
original state of darkness and silence.
"Now where were we, my precious?"
The mighty king purred to his ring, stroking it fondly as it seemed to glow in
answer.
~ Your name, it will strike fear in all who are foolish enough to defy you.
Haunt the nightmares of those who were providential enough to survive your
wrath. But it would do nothing but eat at them, burn their soul with their
failure eventually driving them insane. All from the simply utterance of your
name.' Oh great King Elessar!' ~
