She always knew they were never meant to be. Both so explosively stubborn, unwilling to back down. They were counting the days until they destroyed everything. No one expects them to last, not even themselves but they dare not say a word, they're too intoxicated in this game.
It would end in tears. She'd run away, her pale cheeks streaked with water, her blue eyes red and puffy. It would be worth it though. Around him she felt like she was on cloud nine. The arguments and teasing, the immature behavior, it was always worth it. She loved him and he loved her, but they were both too proud to admit it and they were just balancing on the edge.
For him, it'd end in ruins. He'd never deal with heart break of this magnitude, it would end up bottled inside him. One day he'd snap and end up alone. It'd all be worth it, just to be together a little longer. Her sweet words, soft kisses, her smiles reserved just for him, he'd do it over and over again, the pain of breaking, just to experience those things again.
They knew their time together would end soon, but neither wanted to let go. Self-destruction was their fate, and their love was one never meant to be.
She knew that she'd go through it all again just to see him one more time, to rest in his arms, serene and at peace.
He knew he'd do nothing different if it meant more time seeing her smiling, and loving her.
They were slowly destroying everything around them, because that's all they'll ever be. Destructive.
A/N I love CxC. Its been my favorite ship since I was young. As I grow up and rewatch the show I realize how disfunctional they'd be in reality. Sure they could make it but iny view its a destructive relationship. At least in the shows. In the comics I prefer it much better and its a tad more realistic. So this is my take on Cornelia and Caleb, a love never meant to be.
