Lupin walked into the empty boys dormitory and flopped down on his bed. Another full moon had come and gone and he still ached all over from the transformation.
"I can't escape this hell." He sang softly to the empty room. "So many times I've tried, but I'm still caged inside." He paused before almost shouting, "Somebody get me through this nightmare."
James and Sirius burst into the dormitory looking at their friend with worry.
"I can't control myself." Lupin sang almost apologetically. "So what if you can see the darkest side of me? No one will ever change this animal I have become."
"Let us help you believe it's not the real you!" Sirius protested
"We'll help you tame this animal!" James said lurching across the room at the creature they had smuggled in earlier.
"I can't escape myself." Lupin sang leaning his head on the wall, "So many times I've lied."
"But there's still rage inside." James sang holding the creature away from his face.
"Don't worry we'll get you through this nightmare." Sirius said placing his hand on Lupin's shoulder.
"I can't control myself." Lupin whispered sadly.
"So what if we can see the darkest side of you? We will help you change the animal that you become." Sirius sang. James looked over finally noticing that something was wrong with his friend.
"We'll help you believe it's not the real you. We'll help you tame your animal." James sang to Lupin.
"We'll help you through this nightmare," James and Sirius sang.
"I can't control myself!" Lupin shouted at them.
"We'll wake you from this nightmare." Sirius said gently shaking Lupin to get his full attention.
"I can't escape this hell." Lupin whispered looking at them with haunted eyes.
James and Sirius looked at each other then almost dragged Lupin out of the dorm and through one of their many secret passages to Hogsmeade. They ushered him into the Three Broomsticks. James ordered three fire whiskeys winking at the barmaid who flushed at the attention.
"So what if we can see the darkest side of you?" Sirius asked Lupin sounding frustrated.
"No one will ever change this animal I have become." Lupin said resignedly.
"We'll help you believe it's not the real you. We'll help you tame the animal that you become." Sirius said forcefully as James came back with their drinks.
"Yeah we're here to help you believe it's not the real you, we'll help you tame that animal." James said forcing Lupin's drink into his hands. They all tipped their heads back and swallowed their drinks in one gulp.
