He was old and wrinkled, once dark hair now white. He shuffled around recalling happier, younger days full of fighting spirit; of blue dragons and red phoenixes. He settled down, ceramic cup of tea in hand, looking out through the sliding doors into the back where the grass grew green and the small pond still held koi and was still as blue as the sky. He breathed in, the scent of tea, outdoors, and old wood filled his nose.
He recalled once again those days long gone, of smirks and smiles and grins; of laughter, joy filled and bitter; of voices both deep and high pitched; of touches: hugs, a thump on the back, a hand ruffling hair, and caresses.
The tea was set down as he wondered. Where had those days gone? Had it truly been such a long time? A sigh and more thoughts filled the air. What happened to them? Those friendships that used to pull them back together no matter how far they each had gone. Those bonds that although stretched to their limits, had never snapped. So where had they gone? Had they merely faded over time? Did time take its toll on them as it did everything else? But didn't they promise, the five of them, that those bonds that connected and entwined them all would be eternal? Perhaps it was a thing of the past, created so that it would fade over time, a thing of childhood never meant to survive as they grew into adulthood. Or perhaps it was just a lie, a memory that had never existed in the first place.
Another sigh. Suddenly half blind eyes stared at wrinkled hands as if they had never seen it before, did not recognize them even now.
How the days of youth pass by so quickly.
