I saw Leah, crying in her room. It seemed like everyone I loved was crying these days. Of

course I didn't want Leah to be upset, I yearned to reach into the window and wrap my arms around her. I knew I couldn't though; I was told it was a danger to anyone I went near to be around me. I guess I should explain myself and why this all seems to be happening. It all started on Leah's 19th birthday…

"You taste so good," Leah murmured, still on her knees in front of me. I should have known; Leah would give me anything I wanted, even if it wasn't her birthday. I moaned and palmed the back of her head, feeling her lips on me.

Suddenly, Sue's voice called from the living room. "Leah! Becky's here for your present!"

"Damnit," Leah murmured, looking up at me.

I laughed at her expression and regretfully pulled away from her. "Go on ahead, we'll finish this my way when we get back." Leah nodded, and went out into the living room to greet her friend.

Of course I should have known that I wouldn't be able to finish what I started. I was suddenly enveloped in a heat that was far past the sensation Leah was just creating on me. No, it was a seering pain that seemed to be all around my body.

I groaned and fell to the ground, my head between my knees. What the hell was going on? I asked myself. Sweat was beading on my fore head and every where else on my body. I knew that if Leah came back and saw me like this, she would be instantly worried. I got up and headed to the window where I usually snuck in at night. I opened it up and went out into the cool night air. I didn't know what I should do. Go to the hospital? No, of course I couldn't go to the hospital. Supposedly the elders have this thing where the head doctor is a vampire. I scoffed at the idea every time I heard it.

I groaned once more as another shock wave went through me. I cried out and ran straight to where I knew I could actually get some help…
