It was like waiting, but he knew this was different. He didn't know how to explain it, and that didn't worry him.
In that split second, he knew that this being he was waiting for his whole life, was here, standing right next to him, waiting for him his whole life too.
It was like a rush of happiness, but there was also a line of fear, and he knew that whatever came next to that touch, things would change between them.
They would no longer be enemies: they would be something in between.
Maybe what life dictated, and what you followed in your own heart, should not be mingled together, but how could you say one thing, and yet feel another?
In that one touch, he felt a connection, one he never felt with any of his own kind in all of his life, and he leant ever so gently into that hand, soft, fragile, and yet brave and innocent. He could feel this human being relax: he was afraid, but he was also elated. He was no longer slightly shaking. Not now that he had someone to hold onto.
In this touch, he could feel something he had never felt before, and it made him step back slightly. Unfamiliar, and alien, but also real, and sweet. Was it right, to go against what had been written since the dawns of time?
His eyes were closed: was that okay? Would the boy try something on him now that his guard was down? This touch was too gentle to be menacing.
Eyes opening, he saw this boy looking at him with wonder on his face. In that gaze, he saw what he felt in that touch: tender, unbridled love. Was it safe to say he never felt anything like that before?
Was it safe to say he was scared of what this meant?
It was like waiting, waiting for someone to come along and change who you were, maybe for the better, maybe for the worst, but ultimately for the world to decide.
A/N: Short and sweet, and from one of the best films I've seen so far this year! Yes, yes, I know, took me a while to find this gem, but I couldn't stop gawing at the cute dragon that is, of course, Toothless himself! I stared at the computer lastnight, willing for a fanfic to prize this amazing film, and this came out from my finegrtips! Ah, I cant wait for the next film! I'M SO EXCITED!
