Summary: Mello is always in second place and finally one day snaps. He confronts Near, but guess what happens!
Story:
Today was the day of the month where students at Wammy's Orphanage would get their rankings based on a test that they took monthly. Just about everybody would be happy of their rankings, but Mello was not.
List of rankings:
1- Near
2- Mello
3- Matt
So the list continued on, but Mello didn't care. Mello was raged that no matter how hard he tries, he still can't beat the albino kid, Near, whom was always first at everything. Mello's objective was to beat Near at least one thing, but he still hasn't succeeded yet.
Mello decided that he was going to confront Near. So, he walked to the toy room where he spotted Near playing with his toys like always. Mello arrived and grabbed Near. He pushed him up against the wall.
"You brat!" Mello yelled.
"What did I do this time?" Near asked as he twirled his curly white hair.
"You came first, again!" Mello replied, more raged and annoyed. "I always try my hardest but I always come second. I just want to beat you at one thing at least."
"There's a reason why I've been beating you at everything," Near replied.
"And what reason is that?" Mello yelled.
"I did it so I can get your attention," Near replied and blushed a bit. He continued to curl his hair and looked away.
"W-what?" Mello loosened his grip on Near, stunned.
A kid near by walked past Mello, pushing him into Near. The kid realized what they did and quickly ran away.
As the kid pushed Mello, his lips connected to Near's. They pulled away after a moment.
"It seems that you actually just beat me at something that I've been trying to accomplish for a while now," Near replied.
"I-I guess so," Mello stuttered, trying to hide his blush.
After that, Mello and Near became more close. Near still came first but Mello didn't mind as much.
