"I'm sorry." He said this daily.
"Stop saying that. Stop." She said.
"But I am. Why can't I tell you that?" This bothered him. He was truly sorry. He would prove it to her for all eternity since they had the time.
"Because you won't listen to me."
"I hear you." He said. Of course her heard her; how could he not?
"Why won't you listen?" The woman asked.
"What do you mean?" Damon gave her a look. "I hear you."

The tendons in his neck flexed when she reached up and placed her hand where his heart should be. "No you're not. If anything I am." She said. Bowing her head, she replayed the faded memory in her head.
"Don't blame yourself after this." Her grandmother took labored breaths. "This one is on me."
"No. You can't go, not now." She cried. "This is all my fault, if I would've tried harder." Her uncontrolled sobs echoed off the white walls that contained her Grams.
"It's time. Let me go." She closed her eyes then opened them again. "Damon," she said in his direction, "Damon come here."
"Yes ma'am." He did as he was told and kneeled beside her.
"You're a good man. Be there for my baby." She said. Grabbing hold of his big hands she repeated, "Be there for my baby."
"I will.
