Promises Can Break

The silent night was intoxicating to the remaining contestants of Total Drama World Tour. The flickering bulb in the first class cabin was the only source of light, but no one bothered turning it off before settling down for the night.

The yellow reclining seats were comfortbale, well, more comfortable than economy class at any rate. Team amazon were trying their best to nod off to the land of dream as the shaky flight flew through the sky.

It had been another long day for everyone. Egypt had been a non-merciful stop on their trip, and it was only the first. Every contestant was beat after working so hard on the first challenge. Well, nearly everyone.

"Duncan...How could you do this?" Courtney whispered at him. She was quite mad and had angry emotions towards him at that moment, but she didn't show it. Instead, there was a heap of sorrow and understanding in her voice. It wasn't any more calming for Duncan, though.

"Princess...Courtney...You just have to understand..." The punk wrapped his arms around his lady, protecting her from all the hurt she was going to be feeling for the next few weeks.

Traveling the world without Duncan by her side seemed like an impossibility to her. Ever since season one of Total Drama, Courtney knew she was never going to be able to go on without him with her throughout the competition. It had always been Duncan going on without her, but not this time. This time she was going to have to step up to the big plate and face the fact that she was going to alone, isolate, in the game.

"I promise you that this isn't goodbye." It was always nice to see Duncan's softer side. That was at least what Courtney thought. It really showed to her that he cared, which he did. He would just never admit it to his friends, or anyone else for that matter.

Feelings just weren't things Duncan was good at expressing. He found them to be girly and gay and not his thing. If he wanted to be picked on by every guy in the world, then he would have expressed them, but Duncan had a tough reputation to live up to. That was why he had smashed the camera in the cargo hold so he and Courtney could talk about their feelings without it being broad casted all over the world.

"How do you know that?" Courtney sobbed, breaking out of the emracment. "What if this is goodbye? What if we never do see each other again?" The tears kept on streaming down her face.

That was another thing Duncan wasn't good at; comforting crying girls. He had been in many situations where girls were leaning on his shoulder, crying and begging for comfort, but he couldn't never provide it for them. He had no idea how. However, there was something different about Courtney. She was nothing like all those other girls, and Duncan felt like all he needed to do was hold her tight. And that was exactly what Courtney wanted. She just wanted to be held tightly in Duncan's arms, being told how this isn't the end.

"My last promise to you is that I'll see you again." He gently pressed his lips to her forhead, showing her that everything was going to be alright, even if he wasn't sure of that himself. "And the next time we see each other we will stay that way forever."...But over time, promises can break...

A/N: I think this is pretty self-explanatory...
