Characters do not belong to me... except my OC, Kimiko. :P
Um, basically it's my first story and I was inspired by a scene in the manga about Itachi and the rain. This is just experimental. :P
Hopefully, someone out there enjoy this short one-shot.
GOODBYE
In the middle of the night, the moon was shining brightly high up in the sky. It was slightly cool and the atmosphere felt peaceful. A young lady, around the age of 20, was sitting on the edge of the bed, and was gazing at the moon through the open window.
After a moment, she said, "You're here."
A figure was standing inside the room, staring at the back view of the lady. The person, a young man, was still and silent. The lady continued talking.
"I knew you would be visiting."
"Why would you think so?" he asked quietly.
The lady just shrugged her shoulders, "I just knew."
The man walked out from the dark shadows of the room and headed towards the window. The lady was still gazing at the moon, her face void of any emotion. The man stared at the moon briefly and turned to look at the lady. He was studying her face, trying to read what she was thinking at that moment. They both stayed at their position for a while when the man swiftly walked towards her and held her chin up, forcing her to look into his face. His face was emotionless.
"You're upset." he said.
Her lips trembled for a short while and she struggled to keep her voice even, "Wouldn't you feel the same if you're in my position?"
The man's face softened and murmured, "Kimiko..."
The lady named Kimiko forcefully turned her head away from him, tears were flowing from her eyes.
The man sat beside her and gently pulled her shoulders so that she could face him again.
"Itachi..." she murmured.
He gently smiled at her.
"This will be the last time I ever see you, isn't it?" Kimiko uttered.
Itachi mouth turned into a frown.
Kimiko turned her face away, closing her eyes and sighed.
"Kimiko, you should've known that something like this was bound to happen. We can never live a long life together."
"It still didn't stop me from wishing."
They both didn't talk for a few more moments, just sitting there, thinking.
Itachi broke the silence by saying sharply, "Kimiko."
Kimiko turned to look at him, "Hmm?"
Itachi looked at her for a long time and slowly closed his eyes, "It doesn't matter anymore." And he turned away again.
Kimiko stared at him in confusion. She climbed on her bed and crawled towards Itachi. She kneeled while hugging him from the back.
"I hope you succeed your goal." she whispered.
Not a word is uttered after that. They both stayed like that, gazing at the sky until sunrise.
"I have to go now." Itachi said.
Kimiko's expression turned even into anguish but she didn't say anything. She released him.
"Goodbye Kimiko." Itachi stood up, facing down at her.
Kimiko just nodded, unable to say anything, and lowered her head.
Itachi thought that she might have succumbed into tears and was planning to just leave when suddenly, Kimiko grabbed him. She inched forward and pressed her lips on his. Itachi was caught off guard, and blinked a few times. She parted and whispered, "A parting gift, for you to remember." There was a slight hint of regret in Itachi's eyes.
With that, Itachi abruptly left the room. Kimiko lay on her bed and started to cry. As Itachi walked away from the house, rain started to fall. He continued to walk for a long time until he arrived at the top of a cliff. Rain was still pouring. Itachi stared up at the sky, rain water streaming down his face, giving him the impression that he's crying.
