Thought He Knew Them
He'd known them all for a while: Mamoru, the girls…they came to the Game Centre Crown often. Regulars, he could call them. Friends, even. Especially Mamoru, since the girls often went off by themselves and, well, a guy needed another guy to talk to. He saw them change, little by little: get stronger. He saw them grow up, become closer.
But he didn't see this coming: Mamoru cackling like he was possessed, knocking down one of the Game Centre Crown walls, the girls turning into super heroes – Usagi as Sailor Moon, Minako as Sailor Venus, all the other girls… He knew they'd been growing exponentially, but he hadn't even imagined that something this big was behind that.
He'd known them all for a while and he thought he knew them fairly well, relatively speaking. It turned out he hadn't known any of them at all…and least of all Mamoru, who looked nothing like the Mamoru he'd thought he'd known
