Man's Best Friend: A Marley And Me Poem

By: PeachyKeen13

They say that man's best friend is dog, and who am I to disagree?

Dogs give their masters happiness, hopefulness, and glee.

Dogs make companions for us, out of no relationship that was already there.

Even if they do chew up your wife's favorite couch and chair.

I'm not much of a writer, but you've inspired me.

So I'm writing you this thing, and then I'll let you be.

Dogs better go to Heaven, because if they don't I'll be distraught.

When you came to me, there were things to be learned and lessons to be taught.

One of them is that you should never leave your dog in the garage during a storm,

Or leave a piece of clothing where it's likely to be torn.

But even now I still can't blame you for any trouble that you caused,

I loved you because you were my dog, in your eyes, tail, and paws.

You were my first dog, and you'll be my last, because I can't go through this again.

I didn't just lose my dog, I lost my best friend.

They say that man's best friend is dog, and who am I to disagree?

But if anything, Old Buddy, I like to think that your best friend was me.
