Chapter 1: Being Left Behind

"Ikuto, you'll come back soon, right?" Amu asked, unaware that she's tugging tightly on his shirt.

"Amu, if you keep doing that, my shirt's going to rip," He paused then ruffled her hair. "Of course, I'll come back soon."

"I-I'll miss you, Ikuto." Amu blushed. She's never been one who's honest with her feelings. Ikuto knew this, so he smiled.

"I'll miss you, too, Amu." He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. Amu's face turned even redder.

A few more minutes passed. Then, his name was called over the intercom.

"Don't you dare cheat on me, Tsukiyomi Ikuto."

He grinned as she said this. "You'll have to trust me more, Amu."

"I do trust you. But I also know that you're good-looking, charming... and a per-"

He cut her off with a kiss. And of course, Amu blushed even harder.

"I love you."

Amu was stunned.

"I-"

"You don't have to say it. Say it once I come back, alright?"

She nodded.

As she watched him walk away, she muttered under her breath.

"You perv."

As promised, he returned. He entered through the balcony and leaned on the glass, acting smug.

Amu was stunned. It was him. The midnight blue hair and the sapphire eyes were definitely familiar. She wanted to run towards him. To hug him, and to smell him. She didn't expect him to be back so soon.

"Himamori-san." Wait. Ikuto never called her that.

"HIMAMORI-SAN!"

As expected. It wasn't Ikuto.

"It's Hinamori. Not Himamori."

"You're sleeping. In my class." Nikaidou dismissed her correction and proceeded on scolding the teen. She acted arrogant, but deep down she was pretty shaken up.

Nikaidou sighed and gave up. He proceeded on continuing the lecture. Amu tried to focus but miserably failed. The dream was all she could think of.

She didn't want to admit this, but she missed Ikuto so much.

oooOoooOooo

She sat on a bench. Even the blue sky reminded her of Ikuto. It was silly, and she didn't really know how to handle these feelings.

She's been daydreaming a lot lately, always wondering where Ikuto might be, what he's doing, and if he misses her. It's been two months but all she received from her boyfriend was a picture of a cat.

She squirmed in place and rubbed her head.

"Hey, Amu! What's up?" Kukai sat beside her, and offered her a popsicle.

"Chocolate~ Thanks."

Kukai grinned. "You seem to be spacing out a lot lately. Is there something wrong?"

"It's just because of the heat, you know? Makes me want to just laze around all day." It was half-true, but she couldn't bring herself to talk about Ikuto. It was their little secret. And she preferred to keep it that way. Ikuto would have wanted that, too.

Kukai didn't seem convinced, but he let the subject go.

"I have two tickets for the amusement park. Want to come with me this Saturday?"

"Aren't you going to ask Utau instead? I've heard that you two have been dating."

She heard about this personally from Ikuto.

Kukai scratched his head. "Utau sent me a message yesterday, officially ending things. I was expecting that to happen sooner or later, but it still kind of hurt. I bought these tickets since I wanted to come with her, maybe to rekindle the spark."

Amu remained silent. Utau has always focused on her fame, and she understood that.

"Then I saw you, and thought, why not go with Amu? It'd be such a waste if I don't use the tickets, and as your senpai, I kind of wanted to cheer you up."

That's just so Kukai. He always took care of her since her first day at school, and she appreciated this.

"Okay, then. Let's meet up this Saturday." As she said this, Amu thought of what Ikuto would think of her.

But they'll be going with the senpai-kouhai status. What could possibly go wrong? And she wanted to take a break from thinking about Ikuto all the time. It's becoming unhealthy. People close to her are noticing the changes, and she doesn't really like worrying them.

"I'll be looking forward to it, then." Kukai grinned.

She checked her phone, wondering if Ikuto sent anything. Sure, she knew that what Ikuto is doing is hard work. He's looking for his father while honing his talent for the violin. Ikuto promised that he'll do his best to be able to go back as soon as he can, and didn't she fully support him? Ikuto even told her that she could stop him and he won't go. But she encouraged him all the way.

So she's being careful. She knew that a single text from her will sway Ikuto into coming back, that's why she refrained from telling him exactly what she feels.

Just then, her phone beeped. There was a message from Ikuto. It contained a picture of his violin.
