He tells himself that it doesn't matter. Everyday, walking through the hallways, shoved around, pushed into walls. He tells himself that it doesn't matter. Hanging around his friends, it's awkward now, they all miss the person they thought they never would.

He tells himself that it doesn't hurt, Being pushed aside, like some kid that's gotten tired of a toy. He tells himself it doesn't hurt, when he walks by, like he didn't even see him.

He sees him in the hallways talking to Kisame. Or sometimes exchanging books with Kabuto, hands exchange one to many times for just an exchange. He seems him and Kankurou stumbling out of the bathroom, eyes dilated and bloodshot. He sees him and Haku sharing lunch, Haku's ever grateful face like the others some sort of god. He sees him taking Kimimaro to the nurse after one of his fights. He sees him laughing with the creepy science teacher Orochimaru, like there old buddies. He sees him after Basketball games riding on the top players back, Zabuza, All of his friends around them, laughing a little too loud not to be noticed. He sees him get rides from Itachi, to and after school. And it makes sense. But he remembers how he used to hate Itachi. How is it that everyone got close to him except the people that truly mattered?

And then he sees him walking down the hallways his hands clasped tightly with the redheads. Faced relaxed like there is no problems in the world. And his eyes are on mine for no more then a second before there off again, Talking to his companion, Gaara. And at last when they stop in front of a classroom one leans down and the other leans up, there lips touching. And you can see the pink of there mouths, Gliding into each other. And they break apart a faint trail of spit in-between them before it brakes. And they wipe it of on the back of their sleeves, Eyes still never leaving one another. Before the other turns and walks down the other turns and walks down the hallway, Gaara going into his class.

And he tells himself it doesn't matter, that loosing his best friend doesn't hurt. And as he watches Sasuke walk down the hall, away from him he wonders how it got like this.

But he tells himself its doesn't matter because in the end its still hurts.
