Dear Mrs. Phillips,
It brings me great pleasure to announce that Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's wedding was a success and they are blissfully happy in their marriage. Mr. Darcy, being the rich gentleman that he is, covered all expenses for Lydia and Mr. Wickham's wedding and it was beautiful. He also convinced Mr. Bingley to marry Jane, and to think he did all these things just to make my Lizzy happy! She is so lucky that I steered her in the right direction and had her marry a wealthy man.
Lizzy and Mr. Darcy's wedding was exceptional! Of course, Mr. Darcy handled all the expenses for their wedding so it was expected to be one of the best weddings of our time. Oh, the dancing and the food! There were many different courses at dinner and there was always a healthy supply of wine. There were also so many dances and opportunities for Mary and Kitty to meet rich young men. They danced all of the dances and Mary even seemed to enjoy herself for a little while. Lizzy was a vision in her beautiful dress that Mr. Darcy had made for her. I might actually say that she was even prettier then Jane! I'm sure the dress cost him quite a large sum of money as it was designed and tailored to fit just her in a perfect way. All the people at the reception thought my little Lizzy was beautiful – and there were so many people! All of the wealthiest couples attended and I spent all night socializing with them. I'm sure every well-to-do family was represented. It was warming to see Lizzy accepted into such a wealthy class, especially after all the training and direction I had to provide her.
I suppose Lizzy will be getting used to her life of leisure very quickly. She now has the expensive mansion of Mr. Darcy's to keep up. There are so many rooms that I cannot count them all, although I know that Mr. Bennet and I will have my own personal room there so I can stay whenever I like. The acres and acres of grounds are beautiful. I can just picture myself there now visiting with Lizzy all afternoon. Mr. Darcy also has an impressive barn with so many horses! They are all purebreds and I am sure it cost him quite a lot to acquire them. With all those horses and that magnificent house, it's a good thing she has so many servants to do her work for her. As you know, wealthy people do not have to do their own work. I hope that a little jealousy from her old friends does not upset Lizzy too much as I am sure they wish they had married as well as she has. I am sure many of their parents wish they had tried harder to place their daughters in the right social class!
As for me, I must admit I am also quite relieved that the wedding was a success. I knew that it was all going to work out. You know, she married because I helped her and if it were not for me, this wedding would have never happened! I truly had to explain all the benefits of marrying rich to the poor girl as she thought she should only marry for love. That she is in love and rich is a very odd thing in this society.
Well, I must go but I will write you often. I have work to do, as there are things that I must give away now that I will be receiving all the gifts and luxuries of the wealthy from Lizzy. I am sure I will have much to write about now that our family will be socializing at a higher level. Of course there will be parties to attend and I will tell you all the details. I will have to stay on top of our social calendar! Now that we are included among the wealthy, we will have a reputation to uphold.
I hope that you are as happy as I am. I am sure I will hear back from you and all that you have to say about Lizzy's magnificent wedding. Please visit soon and I will show you all of the luxuries I have obtained from Mr. Darcy.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bennet.
