Through dragons nest and cavern deep
The Burglar Bold did dare to sneak.
He took a jewel from near the bed
Of Smaug the Great, the Dragon Dread.
The beast awoke and soon did know
There was a fool amidst his trove.
Smaug did growl and warned the man
Of flame so bright within his den.
The Burglar Bold then did fly
From where the Lonely Mountain lie.
Smaug the Dragon Dread then flew
Again through hills that once he knew.
Fire bright did soon surround,
His wrath he brought to small Laketown.
Then there was a man prepared
Which shot his arrow to the air
And brought the Dragon Dread down to lie.
Celebrated then was the day
When the town by Bard of Dale was saved.
The Burglar Bold then dared to sneak
Down from the Lonely Mountain's peak.
He brought down gems and bags of gold
Treasures, riches, things untold
And said goodbye to friends of old.
The Burglar Bold then ventured back.
Home he went which Western lay
With riches of Smaug who fell they say.
They are remembered still to this day
Smaug the Great, the Dragon Dread, and
The Burglar Bold that got away.
