Heat of the Night

POEM Riku's POV When your shadow becomes one with the darkness, and the sun shies away from the sky, it's a wonder you don't feel cold anymore.

AN: :waits for rocks to be thrown: Heya! Long time no see everyone! I know I've been a ninja for a long time. I haven't uploaded anything in over 9 months! Gah, it's been forever! I haven't been writing fanfics 'cause I've been working on an original story instead. I have some KH oneshots waiting to be written, but again, I've put those on hiatus for my story. Nevertheless, I felt it was time to post at least something! Hey, I'm been a loyal reviewer though, so I'm not completely out of the dust. I've been busy the past two weeks because of projects and finals, but I'm finally free! I finished my last final today at 2. But I'm taking a summer class, which starts this Monday. Boo! Wish it wasn't so soon, but oh well. Should be an interesting class (Medieval Literature and Culture) 'cause we're going to read Beowulf, Dante's Inferno, Dante's Purgatorio, and some other cool books. I'll try to write fanfic stuff more often even though I'm still writing my story. Hope you like this poem! It's from Riku's POV, but I'm sure it's pretty obvious. ;P

Heat of the Night

Walking in the light

Harsh and blinding sun

Rays are shining bright

Day has just begun

Tugging at my skin

Feel it start to burn

Knowing that within

Something of concern

Doesn't feel the same

Golden is the rise

There's a different flame

Growing in my eyes

Passing overhead

Do not want to hide

Want to show instead

What I have inside

Travel down the path

Shadow's right behind

Product of my wrath

Ever just as blind

Afternoon is gone

Finally I'm free

No longer withdrawn

Moon belongs to me

Darkness overtakes

Doing what it should

Only now I wake

Still misunderstood

Midnight's touch is cold

Comforting, serene

Let my mind unfold

No longer unseen

Gazing down below

No shadow underneath

I know where it could go

Above me and beneath

All around succumb

Spread to fill the air

My shadow's become

Darkness everywhere

Evil saw its chance

Took over my soul

Snagged me with a glance

Then I lost control

Can't escape the black

When the day is through

Wish I could go back

Past I can't undo

Won't take for granted

The warmth of the sun

Dark disenchanted

A part I want none

Try to start again

Never can return

To the time of when

Only light made me burn
