Everywhere To Me
Grief is a strange thing. It had been almost 3 days since Charlie had died and yet she felt strangely serene gazing up at the stars and imagining the brightest one was Charlie. It soothed her somehow and she felt like she was no longer alone.
The nights were often the worst for her. She often woke up screaming Charlie's name, all the while playing back on their memories. Suddenly peanut butter had lost all its appeal to her. Kate and everyone else, seemed to tiptoe around her these days as if the wrong word would shatter her into millions of pieces. Her tears would never dry up completely but she had reached a peaceful stage where she could imagine him without bursting into tears.
"Claire…" A whisper entered her ears and she sat up in bed in alarm. Claire felt afraid. The voice seemed familiar.
Turn it inside out so I can see
The part of you that's drifting over me
Charlie's voice echoed all around her and memories so strong affected her but to her surprise she embraced the familiar voice. It was a way of keeping her sane. She wandered out into the hall and crossed to Kate's bedroom. She was sleeping so peacefully that Claire didn't want to wake her. She stepped out into the night and saw a familiar face smiling at her.
Charlie was good looking even in death. He was dry, clean-shaven and his eyes twinkled mischievously so mischievous that Claire had to bite back a laugh. Then she gasped. Though she had not cried in a while, she had not laughed in ages either.
Cause You're Everywhere to Me
And When I Close My Eyes It's You I See
He outstretched a hand but Claire merely stared at him. She smiled reluctantly but realised that to join him she would have to partake a journey. A journey that would lead her far away from her son and everyone else she cared about. She knew that someday she would be reunited with him. All she was aware now was a sense of letting go. Relief spread through her body like warmth and as it did Charlie disappeared.
You're Everything I Know That Makes Me Believe
I'm Not Alone
I'm Not Alone
Claire smiled and went inside. She gazed at Aaron with such love and affection that it was almost too much not to pick him up and cuddle him. She knew she would survive. Charlie would see to that. She had the two most precious things of all to see her through. Charlie and her son.
A.n- I thought people needed a positive story of Claire's outlook on life after Charlie. I hope you enjoy. It's short but sweet.
