A Spider's Web

A certain auburn-haired elf was cleaning Foaly's attic as a favor. More like blackmail, Holly thought bitterly. He somehow had unearthed the gorilla cage video, and 'suggested' that Holly helped him clean the attic before Caballine got mad and her was 'forced' to show it to the LEP.

She gritted her teeth angrily. She kicked around the furniture (arranging, she called it), dusted the shelves, and was on the verge of destroying Foaly's first trophy to maximize space when something caught her eye.

A spider.

Holly watched it in amazement as it spun its web. True, the webs did add to her misery, but it was hard to watch something so elegant without being amazed.

It reminds me of him, she thought suddenly. The elf glanced back.

The spider. It was spinning its web of lies, deceit, and mistrust. Crafting carefully, its web seemed fragile and easy to break, yet it was dependable.

Any Mud Man would kill it then and there, for cluttering his mind with its unnecessary webs.

Yet it was spinning for a reason.

It just wanted to protect itself.

How can such a delicate thing protect such a small bug? Holly wondered.

At that exact moment, a butterfly happened to have the misfortune to fly in through the open window and get caught in the spider's newly finished web. It struggled to break free.

The web is fairly reliable, Holly remarked. It will probably never escape. Neither will I.

And I never want to, either.

A/N: Well, was that okay? Don't blame me if it was poorly written. I did that at midnight when I was supposed to be studying for exams. *coughs* Clary isn't helping, either. I ask for her opinion and all she says is "Yeah yeah fine whatever." after she reads it in less that 30 seconds. Sheesh. If I wanted that reaction, I could go ask Cleverbot. :(

Hmmm. Too many Artemis and Holly fics. I need to do another character's perspective.

Clary: Minerva! Minerva!

Bunnie: Oh so NOW you decide to drop in! :( Well, I plan on adding a short epilogue if I get...3 people to ask me to? :)

Now, off to study! *sigh*
