The woman walked across the street, the cars strange to her, she had never seen such contraptions, but her mother had told her many stories about her journeys to other worlds. And here she was, walking through the streets of Will's Oxford, just as Miss Lyra had told her. She stopped walking on the other side of the street and looked at the small flat. This is where he would be. And her job was to teach him, and then bring him to Lyra on Midsummer Day. And no one was to said mother, not even Lyra. She hesitated, and slowly formed into a twenty-year-old woman, walked up the stairs and knocked on the door of the flat.
Mary Malone opened the door to see a young woman stading on the door step. The woman smiled, "You must be Ms. Malone! Pleasure meeting you, mother has told me very much about you!"
Ms. Malone smiled. "Are you Will's friend? He wasn't expecting you until tomorrow."
"No. And no one is expecting me. Infact, the only reason I am here is to tutor Will in the art if traveling between the worlds, for I see that he has not picked up from you."
