Sarah's bare feet slapped against the glitter and twig covered floor of the Labyrinth. Why had he come back for her? What did he want from her? She looked back trying to find him. A larger branch caught on her foot and she fell. Pain from scraps and cuts on her legs made it too hard to stand. She used her arms to push herself back and feel the walls for any openings while she watched for him. His laugh echoed of the walls like an alarm, warning her he was coming. Finally, her hand caught a break in the wall. Using the stone she pulled herself up on to sore legs. She turned the corner and continued to try and distance herself from him.

She had been at home in her room. It was her birthday. She had come home from college for the party. As always she and Karen had barely tolerated each other. But Sarah hadn't come back for her, she had come back for Toby. At the end of the night she had returned to her room to stare at the mirror and consider calling to her friends. She wondered if they would recognize her as she was now. The petulant little girl she had been was gone and replaced with a young intelligent woman. She thought she could feel them watching, waiting. She smiled and opened her mouth…Lightening crashed outside.

Familiar place passed her in a blur but she didn't have time to think back to her last visit. Once again her foot caught, this time though, the item was softer. She looked back to find the body of Hoggle, her friend who'd helped guide her last time. Tears caught in her throat as she curled against the wall to mourn her friend. A hand closed against her throat and pulled her up.

Jareth stood before her in all his glory. Her heart thudded remembering his proposal. Had he come back because of that? Sarah stood to face him but as she did they were no longer in her room. Hot wind blew across her face and in the dark she could see the twinkling lights of the Goblin City. She didn't understand. Why would he bring her back? She turned to face him. His face was set, serious, and watching her every move with intense…hatred. She opened her mouth to question him but suddenly he was gone. Her heart sank like a rock. Two hands grabbed her arms from behind her and turned her to face the Labyrinth once more. She could only guess this was his idea of pointing her in the right direction.

"Run." He whispered as he leaned into her.

As soon as he let go she followed his command. The doors were opened already and closed behind her. She took the same path she had before. What was going on? What was Jareth thinking? She had not wished away a child and he hadn't given her a choice. What was going on? Looking back she tripped. Pushing up she caught sight of Jareth ahead of her on the path. She turned around and ran the opposite way.

"Why?" She sobbed looking Jareth in his eyes. She couldn't understand why this was happening?

He leaned in squeezing her throat harder. "I'm a sore loser, Sarah." He kissed her just as her vision went black.
