I picked Clare up and spun her around, just before we fell into the pool. She let out a loud squeal. It was somewhere between twelve o'clock or one in the morning. I had invited Clare for a late night swim earlier today, and she said yes. I felt the chlorine stinging my eyes as I looked at Clare. She grasped my hand as we surfaced. I gasped for breath, and so did Clare. She smiled. "Elijah Goldsworthy. You are nuts." Clare gasped. I gave her a crooked smile as she paddled closer to me.

"Only nuts for you." I said. I held Clare close. She put her left hand on my bare chest. She fluttered her eyelashes and bit her lip as she smiled. I let go of her hand and took a few steps forward.

"Come on. Follow me." I said. Clare smiled and nodded. We swam to the deep end of the pool, where the "waterfall" (as Clare called it) was. I took her hand once more and led her behind it. The waterfall immediately turned on. Water rushed out and a light in the pool turned on. The light caused an overlay of blue water on the fake rock formation above us. I touched Clare's face and looked into her beautiful blue eyes. She stood on her toes and kissed my wet lips. Both of our lips parted. Thoughts raced through my mind. Clare wrapped her arms around my neck. The kiss lasted forever. We soon pulled away. Clare's arms were still around my neck.

"The way the light hits you, well, it's magic." Clare said softly. I smiled and kissed her cheek. I will never forget that night.
