Oh god here it's coming.

She almost told the cabbie to take her back home. Instead she smoothed her skirt and took a deep breath in an effort to soothe her nerves. If he was going to do this then she would face him and she promised herself she certainly would not cry, especially not in the middle of the restaurant.

She wished he had just come to her apartment. At least she could have the pleasure of telling him to get out and then she could slam the door harder than necessary.

The truth was she had been uneasy for the past week. He had been distant and very quiet. She had awoken to find him out of bed and sitting in the darkness of her living room. She asked him what was wrong, but he brushed her concerns off, lamely blaming exhaustion. Which of course didn't explain why he was not sleeping, but instead sitting awake all night.

So here she was one week later, so assured in the fact that he was going to tell her it was over. Telling her to meet him at a restaurant, presumably so she couldn't make a scene. She imagined he had done this before, had an exact plan, and easy out with girls he didn't want to see anymore. He probably had even paid busboys to use the back exit. Crowded restaurant after a week of buildup and distance. Yes this reeked of a well thought out plan.

She wouldn't make a scene. She would be calm, ask him if he was sure, and then she would leave as quickly as possible. She briefly wondered how much vodka she had at home, how early she had to wake up the next morning and if it would be too obvious to call in sick.

After what seem to be an extraordinarily short amount of time, she arrived at the restaurant. Steeled her face and walked inside. She stopped to ask the hostess if he had already arrived. She couldn't stop her traitorous face from splitting into a grin at the sight of him. He was devastatingly cute, wearing a dress shirt and slacks looking decidedly nervous. The nagging feeling of dread began to fade away; perhaps he really was just preoccupied with work she thought to herself.

Their eyes locked from across the room, she thought it was so clichéd but she couldn't tear her eyes away from his piercing blue gaze. She was finally comfortable, happiness replacing her insecurities and overwhelmed by the deep love for the man who held her gaze. His love and admiration for her was apparent even across the room. The hostess finally tapped her on the shoulder and pointed to the direction of Danny, "Mr. Messer has already arrived."

"Yah Thanks." Was the most she could get out.

That night there was a scene made in the restaurant. She did cry, but he did too. There was a loud shriek, but there were huge smiles, languorous kisses and a very speedy cab ride home.
