Merry Christmas to my dear Kaoru-chan

And I don't own Ouran, by the way. No matter how many times I ask Santa.

Hikaru sighed. Their mother's yearly Christmas party was in full swing, with tipsy couture fashion designers everywhere you looked. That in itself wasn't the problem, though. It was their daughters. Those simpering, unmercifully flirty girls with far too much makeup on seemed hell-bent on making sure that this was the worst evening of his life. "Oh Hikaru, you look so handsome tonight!"

"Your tie is very chic."

"Won't you tell me about your school?" Mentally screaming, Hikaru put on his best smile for the girls.

"Sorry ladies, but I promised my brother that I would help him put gifts under the tree. See you later!" and he disappeared before they could protest. He scanned the crowd for a flash of red hair, a pair of golden-hazel eyes. Finding none, Hikaru dodged another blush-coated girl and ducked into the kitchen. "Kaoru..."

"Did you finally escape?" Kaoru asked nonchalantly. He stood under the archway between the kitchen and living room, where their mother had jokingly hung a garland of mistletoe.

"Yeah, it took me a while." Hikaru noticed where Kaoru was standing. "Are you waiting for someone?" The younger twin's cheeks reddened slightly.

"Yes."

"Who is it? It had better not be that Yamato girl, she's such-"

"Nope. Keep guessing. And you can only ask either/or or yes/no questions." Hikaru rolled his eyes, but played his brother's game.

"Blonde, brown, red, or black hair?"

"Red."

"Blue, green, gray, or hazel eyes?"

"Hazel."

"Tall or short?"

"About our height."

"Have I met her before?"

"Many times."

"Is it... Rina-san?" Kaoru laughed.

"No! You're not even close!"

"But she's the only one with red hair here!" Hikaru whined. "Give me a hint."

"No." Hikaru put on a puppy dog face that would put Hunny to shame.

"Please, Kaoru?"

"NO." He frowned. Who could Kaoru possibly meeting under the mistletoe that had red hair? The only people at the party with red hair were Rina-san and... Hikaru's frown twisted into a devilish smirk. He took Kaoru's hands and played with them absentmindedly.

"Does this person go to Ouran with us?"

"Yes."

"Do they live close by?"

"Yes." Kaoru started to blush again.

"Do you two spend a lot of time together?"

"Yes."

"Do they know that you like them as more than a friend?"

"I-I'm not sure. That's why... tonight, I..." Hikaru wrapped his hand around Kaoru's waist, looking him straight in the eyes.

"Would you mind terribly if they kissed you right now?"

"No." Kaoru blushed furiously. Hikaru summoned up every ounce of courage he could muster and, hoping his brother wouldn't hate him afterwards, lifted his chin gently and placed his lips softly on Kaoru's. He pulled away almost instantly, so afraid that Kaoru would be mad at him for stepping past that one boundary they had never crossed.

"Kaoru... I-"

"Why did you stop?" Identical smirks spread across their faces. Hikaru leaned over and kissed him again, this time with more force. They broke away, still leaning their foreheads against each other, struggling for breath. The clock chimed, once, twice, twelve times. "Merry Christmas, Hikaru." Kaoru whispered.

"I prefer this to Christmas presents."

I'm so sorry for my failure of a Christmas oneshot! Thank you for reading it, and have a happy holiday!
