AN: I started playing FFXII a couple days ago, and I can't stop. It's so addicting it's not even funny. xD
Unfortunately it's just so haaaaaaard. And I usually love Balthier, but at the moment, I HATE THAT DAMN ATTENTION WHORE. SERIOUSLY. I'm like, "No Balthier, don't go through that trap! Or else the gaurds will be at us!!" And he steps through it and we all die. Damn pirate.
Hot threads though. xD
BTW, I am without beta, so excuse any grammar/spelling mistakes or something.
Larsa knew she could never be his.
He saw the way she smiled when Vaan pushed her playfully (he secretly hates this; how could that horrid sky pirate push her around!), he saw the way she smiled when he thanked her for a life saving heal (oh how he wished she could heal him, but he was Larsa, the kid with the infinite amount of high potions…), he saw the way she smiled when he did something absurd but funny (Larsa was emperor so he was pretty much forbidden to do anything foolish or reckless), and he especially saw the way she smiled when he smiled at her.
And he was jealous of every bit of it.
He knew he could shower her with riches and beautiful dresses, and Vaan could gift her with petty little trinkets and those (rather pretty) hand picked Galbana lilies.
But, the young emperor thought, then again, Penelo might not want all the attention that she would get from the hundreds of servants that resided and worked at the palace. She seemed to like the work that came with being a pirate of the skies.
The young emperor sighed. He was all he was; a small 12 year old boy, already emperor of an entire country, and extremely wise and intellectual for his age.
Vaan was the complete opposite. He was a clumsy 17 year old who grew up with Penelo, a boy on the edge of being a man who loved flirting with disaster who admired Balthier. He probably knew more about Penelo than she would ever tell anyone., little embarrassing kid stories that mothers would tell their friends, gossiping like the old ladies they were.
And frankly, he was a bit angry.
He was angry at Vaan for knowing more about Penelo than he would ever knew, he was angry at Penelo for thinking he was like a little brother (okay, so he wasn't angry at her; he could never be), but he was most angry with himself.
He was Larsa F. Solidor, heir to the throne of Archadia, but he couldn't even get the attention of a lady! Never mind that the girl in context might seem a bit too old for him, but still!
To put it simply, it hurt. It tore at his chest like a hurricane, and it hurt. Bad.
But one must live the way fate has determined it to be, and so when silly Vaan and beautiful Penelo bumped into each other onboard the Strahl on day with the intent of telling each other something, Larsa was happy for them.
She was happy, and to him, it was all that mattered.
That didn't mean he didn't want to be taller or older so that he at least had a chance at the game of love against Vaan, oh no.
He stared at the stack of papers on his grand mahogany desk and let out a frustrated groan. That growth spurt better come soon.
Geez. Incase you can't tell, I lurv a good Vanelo story.
Also, I hate Larsa with an undying passion. But he cracks me and my brother up occasionally. Remember this? - "I am troubled." Me and my brother were like ROFLROFLROFLCOPTER
