Snowflakes.

A/N:

Hi all! I'm sorry to say that this is only a mere one-shot, and will only ever be a bumbling scrap of one-shotness. Tigerstar X Leopardstar is one of my favourite ships, and I will (eventually) write more of them. But this is all I got for now. I was inspired when Firestar thought "Surely the dark-hearted Tigerstar had never chased snowflakes just for the joy of it?" So I wrote this.

Disclaimer:

*Sings* No matter what you take from me you'll never take me dignity! *Stops singing* Sorry, that was weird. My point is, *Starts singing ... Again* this Fic is part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me, no! Sorry! I'll stop. ERINHUNTEROWNSWARRIORSNOTME! BY WRITING THIS I AM NOT TRYING TO ANNOY OR OFFEND ANYONE!

The skies had darkened over RiverClan as a golden spotted pelt emerged from one of the dens. The she-cat sat and stared expectantly at the entrance to the camp. It was cold, no warriors or elders sat in the clearing sharing tongues or eating fresh-kill. It was far to cold for that.

At the rustle of the fronds, she sat up, her slumped posture straitened. She wouldn't let Tigerstar see how much leadership was effecting her, she couldn't afford to let her see any signs of weakness. For her Clan, as she constantly told herself, but the other reason was there, a heavy weight bearing down on her.

A dark tabby tom entered the camp. She stood and walked over to him.

"Leopardstar," he nodded respectfully.

"Tigerstar," she replied. Leopardstar shuffled her paws before adding, "Walk with me, we have much to discus."

Tigerstar followed her without question, despite the flicker of doubt he felt as the couple padded out of camp.

"ThunderClan has suffered more losses than they let on, Firestar is ensuring that. The loss of Bluestar has rattled them," she reported.

Tigerstar nodded his head, acknowledging the information without speaking.

"We should attack while they're weak," she hinted.

The battle scared tom shot her a long look. "Oh, Leopardstar, you've much to learn." He sighed. "Although attacking now would be useful, I don't think there's much fun in winning without a fight, don't you agree?"

She tipped her head. "Very well, we shall wait. We shall spring when they least expect it." The gold warrior queen shot him a guarded glance.

The dark tabby's amber gaze met her, even darker, amber ones, and Tigerstar thought he noticed a flare in the RiverClan leader's eyes, but it was gone so fast he was sure he was seeing things.

"It's a shame about Bluestar," he remarked casually. "I thought that, when the time came, we might fight her together."

Her dark eyes glowed.

"There is still Firestar," she pointed out, ignoring the flutters in her chest.

"No, Firestar is a different matter," he meowed darkly, extinguishing the hope that had risen moments before.

The dark skies suddenly grew darker. Leopardstar glanced at the heavens. "It looks like it's going to rain."

He stood beside her, no noticing how close their pelts were. "No, it's too cold for rain,"

"Do you think it'll snow?"

Tigerstar shook his head. "No, the cloud will pass."

At that moment small white flakes tumbled down from the sky, drifting lazily to the forest floor. Leopardstar felt the dark warrior stiffen.

"Don't you love snow?" She murmured, slightly breathlessly. She remembered the past time she'd played in the snow. Whiteclaw had joined her. A pang of sadness rippled through her.

"What's the matter?" The warrior next to her growled. "There is nothing to like about snow."

She gaped at him. "What?! There's everything to like about snow! It fun to play in and it makes everything beautiful!" she stopped there, not ready to pour her soul out to the tabby. The main reason she liked the snow so much was how it reminded her of Whiteclaw, her first, and only love. Well, the only one she admitted about.

"It gets everywhere! It's corse and ruff, and not to mention the cold! And then you have to clear it way from the dens, which takes forever! But just when you think it's over, it melts into slush, and that in itself is a whole new issue!"

"Don't tell me you've never played in the snow before!"

He stayed silent.

"You're kidding!" Leopardstar said, astonished.

He shook his head, a mix of disbelief, annoyance and shame.

Leopardstar smiled, purring softly. "You know what we have to do now?"

"Oh, StarClan help me!" He cursed under his breath.

She scooped a ball of the cold white flakes, that was already covering the ground in a thin veil, and flung it and the annoyed warrior. The ball hit it's mark and struck Tigerstar squarely in his broad chest. The hairs on his pelt bristled, he spat at his attacker. His anger faded when she flicked her long, elegant tail innocently.

"Why you little ..." He scooped up a ball for himself and threw it at the pretty queen. She danced out the way, and returned fire. Tigerstar was ready this time, and dodged to the left, sporting his superb fighting skills. The dark tabby growled again, but the noise held no rage. He tackled Leopardstar to the ground, feeling victorious.

"Ha! Not so brave now that I'm win-" He was interrupted by a blast of snow to the face.

"Ha! Not so brave now that I'm winning!" The spotted tabby taunted.

"Alright, that's it!" Tigerstar noted the flash of fear in his opponent's whisky coloured eyes. "It's on!"

The pair launched into battle mode, each creating a small stash of weaponry for themselves. They taunted each other and darted past the flying snow.

A short time later, Tigerstar had pinned Leopardstar to the snowy ground. They remained still for a moment, both breathing heavily, as they drank in each other's scent, the snowflakes still drifting slowly to the ground. Leopardstar shivered under Tigerstar's unreadable gaze, she found herself lost in the deep amber eyes. Tigerstar showed no signs of moving, and Leopardstar didn't want him to.

"So, how do you like snow now?" She whispered.

Tigerstar frowned, and mumbled something unintelligible.

"Pardon?"

"It's not so bad," he paused. "And neither are you."

Leopardstar's tail twitched as joy spread through her. "You aren't half bad too," she whispered.

Tigerstar leaned forward and touched his muzzle to hers. Tigerstar moved his weight off her, and flicked her flank with the tip of his tail. She purred.

"I have to go," the dark tom murmured, pain sparkling in his eyes.

"I know."

He turned to leave. Leopardstar hesitated before speaking, "Tigerstar, let me take you back to the border."

"I can get there myself," Tigerstar replied nonchalantly.

"That wasn't a question," she meowed, icily.

They padded to the border line and muttered quick goodbyes.

Leopardstar padded into RiverClan camp, noticing the strange looks she earned from her warriors. Shadepelt trotted up to her.

"Where were you?" The warrior queen inquired.

"I was playing the snow with Firestar," she meowed sarcastically. "What do you think I was doing? I was patrolling the borders when the snow held me up, although it isn't really your business!"

Shadepelt noted the far away look I her leader's eyes as Leopardstar padded into her den.

"What do you think she as really doing?" She turned to Mistyfoot.

She waited a long time before answering, "I think she has finally moved on from Whiteclaw," the dark grey she-cat meowed with the wisdom of one twice her age.

"But how?"

"StarClan knows."
