Chapter 1

It was a cool spring day on planet Mobius. A certain blue hedgehog called Sonic was resting in a medium-sized apple tree. Petals from the blooming apples were starting to fall, covering the ground below him in a pinkish-white color.

"Sooooniiiiic!" A familiar voice called. Not long after, A pink hedgie showed up. "There you are, Sonic!"

The azul opened one eye lazily.

"Oh, hey Ames. So, how's your new boyfriend working out for ya?"

Amy let out a small giggle. "Great, actually! I didn't think you would ask…"

"Why wouldn't I ask? I care about my friends, you know. Now, what did you need?"

"Oh, yeah, um…. Shadow was looking for you earlier. He said that he had something to tell you."

As the pink hedgehog said that, Sonic's ear twitched slightly. What was it that the ebony hedgie could possibly want? As far as the blue hero could tell, Shadow had no interest in him. With one swift movement, he jumped down and and landed perfectly on his feet.

"Where is he?"

"He was at the park when I ran into him. Though I don't know if he's still there or not…"

The azul hedgehog gave Amy a bright smile and a thumbs-up.

"Thanks Amy! See you later!" With that, he ran off towards the park.

The girl giggled and waved.

"Bye, Sonic!"

-A little while later-

A certain black and red hedgehog sat on a bench, thinking of the blue hedgehog.

Would he believe me if I told him? He thought. Will he deny? I wonder if he'll think I'm crazy…

He closed his eyes and leaned his head back, feeling the relaxing warmth of the sun on his face. Maybe I am crazy. He was brought out of his thoughts when a blue blur suddenly came to a stop in front of him.

"Hiya, Shads!"

The black and red hedgehog looked at the azul one.

"Oh. Hello Sonic."

"So you wanted to talk to me?"

Shadow smiled and ran his fingers through his inky-colored quills.

"Actually, yes. There was this one thought that crossed my mind."

"What's that?"

Looking away, the striped hedgie said, "We fight alot… and after many battles I realize that since our powers are mostly the same, we will never get anywhere. Besides, we don't gain anything from it, either."

Emerald eyes stared at the male in front of him. "Yeah, I guess you're right…."

"So…. I was wondering if you'd forgive me…. for everything…. and we could be friends?"

With that, he turned around and met Sonic's eyes and gave him a bright smile. Not a smirk or a grin, but a real smile. It was the first time the hero had ever seen it, his eyes widened with surprise. Something inside him…. he didn't know what, but something was different. He almost felt…. flustered? Maybe some admiration? Whatever it was, it bloomed within him… his face began to feel hot, and his stomach felt full of heart started to race, and he found himself staring at the beautiful figure….

He was suddenly taken out of his trance when he heard Shadow sigh, and all at once, the smile faded.

"I can understand if you don't want to…. besides, who would want to be friends with a criminal like me?"

The azul one was taken aback, and he stumbled over his words.

"What? No, I didn't mean-I mean, but, well-um, you see, I-ugh!"

he mentally slapped himself for being foolish. He quickly gathered himself up and said,

"Shadow! I want to be your friend!"

The smile on the dark hedgie's face returned, but even brighter this time.

"Wonderful!" He exclaimed. "So what do you want to do first?"

Sonic was about to reply when something beeped on the ebony's wrist.

"Incoming transmission." Said a computerized voice. "Rouge the bat to Shadow the Hedgehog."

"Receive transmission." Shadow spoke to the device. Suddenly a small hologram appeared, showing the face of a white female bat.

"Shadow! We need you to report to the GUN headquarters immediately. Repeat, report to GUN headquarters immediately!"

"Right on it!" The hologram disappears. He turned to face the cobalt hedgehog. "Well, looks like I have a mission to do! See you tomorrow?"

"You bet!" Sonic responded without any hesitation.

With that, the Shadow nodded, then took out a sapphire colored emerald. He held it out then said,

"Chaos control!" and disappeared, leaving the hero to himself and the warm sunny afternoon.
