Quite A Rough Landing

Jane was sat on the edge of the courtyard fountain. Thanks to King Ben the waters that flowed within it ran straight from the enchanted lake and every day students would come to toss in either a coin or an enchanted pebble to make a wish. That's what Jane has come to do under the illusion that she was simply studying as she held her 'study of magical wand law' book.

Just as she tossed in the small silver coin she jumped as a bark came from behind her,

"Oh... hi there Dude." she said giving him an appreciated scratch behind his ears as he wagged his tail,

"You making another wish?" came another voice causing her to look up and she blushed gently seeing Carlos approaching in his stunning leather jacket that she secretly adored but would never ever ever admit outloud,

"No!" she answered much too quickly and much too defensively,

"I was... studying" she corrected him lamely causing him to raise his eyebrow amused,

"Wow... must be even more fascinating reading it upside down" he teased before sitting next to her on the fountain's edge and gave her an encouraging smile,

"You should take a leaf out of Queen Tiana's book. Instead of just wishing for what you want you just need to go for it" he said simply and Jane simply pouted before turning the book the right way round and opened it to a random page,

"I don't want a restaurant thank you" she said simply causing Carlos to chuckle,

"No, you want what she ended up with. A prince that loved her" he said giving Dude a scratch between his ears. Jane blushed once more,

"I... What would you wish for?" she asked curiously and it was Carlos' turn to become bashful,

"well... I" he began and Jane looked at him with gentle curiosity,

"Yes?" she pressed gently and Carlos looked at her as his ears turned pink,

"I guess I'd wish that you would say yes if I asked you to the Jewelbely Ball" he admitted rather quickly and she blushed gently with a soft smile as she tucked a stray curl behind her ear,

"I would love to go with you Carlos" she said gently causing Dude to bark happily wagging his tail and Carlos looked stunned,

"You would?... That's great" he said with a bright smile and they both became lost in each other's eyes,

"I... Would you mind if I... gave you... a... a kiss?" he asked shyly and Jane giggled gently,

"as long as it's not a thimble" she teased with a blush lingering on her cheeks and Carlos gave a nervous laugh before leaning in gently and Jane did the same as they both closed their eyes gently. It was then that Dude was yearning for attention and gave a bark before leaping onto Carlos' lap startling both him and Jane,

"whoa!" they both exclaimed and Jane lost her balance and grabbed the leather sleeve of Carlos' jacket and dragged him into the fountain's waters as she fell.

It took a moment but they both laughed it off,

"I guess my wish came true" Carlos teased before he and Jane shared their first kiss.
