The moon shone, peeking in-between the clouds that moved up in the sky. On that quiet night, one would find a young woman of twenty years old trying to sleep peacefully.

Though it wasn't easy to do so without the person who belonged on the other side of the bed.

Rai pulled out his key for the small house that he and his wife Nunnally Lamperouge shared.

The door swung open silently, exactly the way Rai wanted it to be. He closed the door with a small click and went toward their bedroom.

It was very late and he knew his wife was sleeping. he hadn't known when he would be free to go home.

It had been a few days since he had left them, and to him it felt like an eternity. He hadn't been able to fall asleep with his wife in his arms, or tease and talk to her whenever he felt like it.

It had been Hell. A Hell made by the isolation.

Their heart were beating painfully as they remembered the heartache and loneliness of their absence.

The nights were the problem though...because at night there was nothing but the memories of the sweet hours spent in each other's arms...of the whispered words of love.

She could still smell his scent on his pillow. She had lost count of the nights she had blindly reached out for him for comfort… finding only emptiness.

As Lelouch's Knight, the new emperor brother in law, he had to go wherever he was needed.

His assignment had been terrible. Most of them were bandits to defeat, New terrorists,...

Rai shook his head of the memory; it was something he didn't want to remember.

Soon enough, he would forget all of that fighting and see his wife again, touch her, having her in his arms, telling her that he loved her with all his heart, the brightest color in his life.

He opened the door quietly and stepped inside. It was dark, he assumed she was asleep as he closed it behind him.

He turned back to look at the bed, their bed, and saw a pair of purple eyes looking at him.

"Rai-san..." she was shivering just by saying his beautiful name.

She could see her husband clearly now, his eyes locking with her own. Instantly a hunger flared between them, a love that burned brighter and sweeter than any fire in the world.

He slowly crossed the room to her, kneeling beside her. Tears filled her eyes as she took him in. It felt like an eternity since she had been with him last.

A long lonely eternity, but he was here now. The man she loved was in front of her, and she could breathe again.

She placed hundreds of soft kisses on his face.

They looked into each other's eyes and finally said the words that each craved to hear:

I love you.
