It was a rather strange sight. A dog and a cat napping together; one just as black as the other, practically blending together. They seemed content. Happy even. The dog was the first to awaken, and, after a good stretch and a yawn, turned to gently nudge his odd sleeping companion. The cat, in turn, woke with a start, but calmed almost instantly when he realized what had awoken him. Stretching and yawning, the cat then stood and resumed the form of a tall wraith of a boy with greasy black hair and an unsightly nose, dressed in robes nearly two-sizes too big.

"You were right, Black," The boy declared, addressing the dog, "Napping in one's animagi form is quite enjoyable."

The dog smiled and mirrored the boy's previous actions, resuming the form of a more handsome youth with wild dark hair and silvery eyes, clad in much newer robes that fit properly.

"Told you so," Sirius Black proclaimed, happy to not be barking anymore, "You know, Snape, I don't regret teaching you how to become an animagus, you've been a fairly decent companion these past few months."

"Yes, well," Severus Snape awkwardly cleared his throat, his pale cheeks coloring in response to the compliment, "You're really not so bad yourself."

"Hey, wanna see if Wormtail will let us chase him around the castle?" Sirius implored, quickly changing the subject before things got too weird between them.

Severus smiled, a mischievous gleam in his coal black eyes,

"Is aconite the same thing as monkshood?"
