I guess we should'nt have been alone at school. That was when it happened. I found out that I am a demigod: a child of the gods of Mount Olympus. My name is Mallory Spark, and this is my...story, tale, adventure, call it what you want to. This is it

Lia and I were walking to the EC wing to buy some hot chocolate, as we usually did. It was eerily quiet, considering there were almost 700 kids at the school. I told Lia so. She seemed more nervous than usual. She's short for a sixth grader in middle school, with thick dark brown hair to her mid-back,which she usually keeps in a ponytail or braids. The prettiest thing about her is her eyes. They are very dark brown, almost black, so you can barely tell the iris from the pupil. And they are very big, giving her a puppy dogg-ish look, facewise. Altogether, I think she is rather pretty. I, on the other hand, have stringy red hair, about to my shoulders, and I just leave it down. My eyes are an ugly slush grey color, and are very tiny. I am ugly compared to her.

"Hey, Lia. It's pretty quiet here, ist it? It seems like something could happen at any moment, huh? Like something from a scary movie?" I say spookily. That did not help, obviously. We made it to the classroom. Lia was getting more and more nervous with every step we took. The bell for class rang, and the door opened. We went in, and I got a reason why Lia'd been acting so nervous.

The teacher was not a teacher. There was a...well, the best thing to call it is a monster. It had snakes for hair " How nice of you to finally show up. Now, for your death!" she said to us. She charged at me, and I screamed and dove to the side.

Lia shouted," Mal, get out that pin I gave you, and unclip the part where you pin it on!" So I did. She'd given me a pin earlier, and I'd completely forgotten about it until now. I did as she said, and unpinned it. And I was not holding a hairpin. I had a three foot long blade of pure metal. It was not any plain plastic weapon like in a second graders war play occasionally. This was real, and I guessed it could do some real damage.

The hag got closer and closer to me, almost stalking me. She made a jump, and I did what my musces told me to. I swung the sword. I watched as she disolved into a pile of yellow dust and then disappeared.

"What was that!? That was so freaky! Lia, what was it!? I know you know, you knew how to fight it!" I said.

"That was a gorgon. One of Medusa's sisters. Not deadly to look at, but pretty likely to be paralyzing just the same," Lia said.

"Why was it after us?" I demanded.

"Because we're children of gods. I think there's a satyr here, but I don't know who." she said.

"Satyrs? Like the old Greek myths? All the gods, like Apollo, and them?" I asked.

"Yep, that'd be them," Lia said sourly. " They have kids with mortals, and we're them. We're uber powerful, and half the time we don't do anything."

"Well, who's my parent?" I asked. I knew it was my dad, since all I've ever known was my mom.

"My parent is Apollo. In case you never noticed, I always tell the truth. As for you, you're a daughter of Zeus. Now, we need to find the school satyr." she said.

But we did not have to look far. Coming down the corner was…

"Ms Huskins?" I asked.

"Oh, no. I knew there was a reason I never trusted her. Was she after you two?" she asked us. We nodded. "Come with me," she said. We followed her to her classroom, which was not far from there. "Okay, guys, I want you all to go to the library today and finish any missing work, if any, you may have." she said. "I need to talk to Mallory and her friend in private."

The class left, and Ms. Huskins closed the door behind them.

"Okay, you two, what happened?" she asks. So we explain. I nervously play with the pin. It had saved my life. So had Lia.

Once we finished, Ms. Huskins said, "Well, we've got to get you to safety. Come on." We follow her to a closet. She opened it. It was not a rergular closet. It was some kind of portal. The last thing I see before Lia walks in is a girl coming down the hall.
