A/N: I was bored in class, and this came out!

Senior Year

Casey flipped shut the yearbook. 1996 was her senior year at Shadow Valley High. That was the year that changed Casey as a person, and forced her to think about her future career. Setting the book back on her bookshelf, Casey sat back in her chair and relieved her last year of high school.

Flashback, 1995, the day before school starts

"Casey!" a young girl with dark curly hair cried.

"Maddie! Oh my gosh! I haven't seen you all summer!" Casey called back as she hugged her friend.

"What classes do you have?" Maddie asked.

"I'm not sure. I haven't gotten my schedule yet. Do you want to come with me?"

"Sure!"

The two girls raced from their lockers to the main office.

"Casey Noveck," she said to the secretary.

"Here you go," the secretary said as she handed over the schedule.

"Thanks," said both girls.

"Okay, Maddie, I have English, Pre Calculus, Physics, History, Speech, Debate, and Guard Team," Casey said.

"Speech and Debate? Did you even choose those?" Maddie asked.

"No, I wanted ceramics and fashion. They must have filled those classes up already," Casey said with disappointment.

"Well, at least we have Guard together," Maddie said.

"Yeah. That would stink if we didn't," Casey agreed.

"See you later today!" Maddie said.

"Bye!"

As the weeks went by, Casey became so involved with Speech and Debate that she was asked to join the school teams. At first, Casey didn't want to, but she eventually realized that her interest in color guard had become almost absolute, and how Casey was putting so much time and effort into speech and debate, that it would almost be a waste of time to do anything else. That day, right after lunch, Casey signed up for speech team and debate team. As she put her name down, another club caught her eye. The Mock Trial club had been recommended on the first day of her debate class. Before she changed her mind, Casey put her name down for mock trial too.

By the end of the first semester, Casey's GPA had risen to 3.8. She had dropped color guard, but had become President of the debate team, vice president of the speech team, and a defense attorney in Mock Trial. On average, she put in about four hours a week to her clubs and classes. Although mock trial was a lot of work, Casey learned so much from it. By the end of the year, Casey had decided that she wanted to study law. After four more years of college, Casey Noveck landed a job at the SVU as an ADA.

End of Flashback

Casey smiled at the memory. Had it not been for that schedule assignment, she knew that she never would have studied law.

A/N: Again, just a little snippet into Casey's past. Read and Review! Thanks a bunch!
