A/N: This is a bit of an apology for not writing in months. I was overloaded with school work. I was going to post at midnight but the one I wrote yesterday was so absolutely awful that I started over. I wrote this in an hour, so yeah... this is a little drabble for my favorite holiday(but so sad for this fandom! I am wearing a witch hat at school right now and will post this when I get home) Enjoy! Happy Halloween! :D
Standing at the edge of the great hall (currently being used for a ball) was Harry Potter. It was Halloween and normally he would be sulking somewhere mourning his parents, but not tonight. He had made a promise and he wasn't about to break it. He had put it off enough as it is. So as he waited for the clock to strike nine, his thoughts drifted, as it tends to do, back to the war.
The war had ended almost a year ago. When Voldemort tricked him into going to the Department of Mysteries and after Sirius fell through the veil, old Snake-face tried to possess Harry. When he did this it weakened the evil man and he wasn't strong enough to apparate. Everything that happened after that was a blur but when the dust settled Voldemort was dead, the minister was kicked out of office (replaced by Arthur Weasley), and the Wizarding world was safe.
Harry was startled out of his memories when the clock chimed nine and the music started to play. As he looked out at the ballroom he could see that his plan had worked; there were several people with Malfoy blond hair or his own messy black hair. No one would know it was them until they were ready. The two rivals had been dating since sometime in the middle of fourth year. The rest of the school thought they still hated each other but in reality their fights were really more of an elaborate game to the two of them. Both teens agreed that it was too dangerous to be publicly together until the end of the war. Now it was time to shock the masses.
Harry was dressed in an emerald green poet shirt with a grey vest and black pants tucked into a pair of black boots. Draco was dressed in the same style except his shirt was light blue and his pants were white. Both boys had masks that covered most of their facial features so no one would notice them.
A tango started playing and the two met in the center of the dance floor, the first there. All eyes were on the two circling each other like two predators. Whispers started flying. It looked like Potter and Malfoy but it couldn't be. The two finally leapt into the dance and spun around the floor with practiced ease; these two obviously practiced this.
At the end of the dance everyone applauded. Then the masks vanished.
The silence in the hall was deafening, the tension suffocating. All wanted to see what the two bitter rivals would do. The two teens still their eyes locked and slow grins spread across their faces. They closed the distance between them in a quick kiss. They broke apart when they heard the sound of several bodies hitting the floor. Apparently some Hufflepuff and Gryffindor students had fainted. Even Ron.
Several weeks later everything had settled down and people were starting to get used to the 180 the Potter/Malfoy relations had taken…except Ron… He fainted every time he saw them. Draco turned to Harry one day after Ron hit the ground for the fifth time that day and said,
"All things considered that went better than expected…"
and the two dissolved into hysterical laughter that echoed through the halls.
