"Happy Halloween!" You heard from the doorway behind you. You had been in the kitchen baking when your angel came home. When you had turned around, you saw Gabriel standing in front of the door, arms stretched out, with a huge grin on his face. He wore a headband that kept up a small, gold halo. In one hand he held a red lollipop and you could see where it's been on his lips.

"Happy Halloween, Gabe," you replied happily, turning back to the pumpkin shaped cookies that were about to go in the oven.

"What are you being for Halloween?" he asked, eyeing you up and down, taking notice of the absence of a costume. You rolled your eyes, opening the oven and setting the cookies in.

"I'm not wearing one. I told you before. They're all itchy and hot and I never look right in them."

Gabe placed his elbows on the counter and rested his head in his hands. "Why don't you just let me get you a costume? What would you be if the costumes weren't itchy and hot?"

You sighed, using a towel to wipe off your hands, "I don't know, maybe an angel like you?"

Gabe smiled, obviously approving of your choice, and snapped his fingers. "Done."

You didn't feel anything, but when Gabe snaps his fingers you know he did something. After looking down, you realized you were in a short, tight white dress that you assumed was supposed to be your 'angel costume'. It was unusually comfortable for a Halloween costume, though. And of course, you had a halo on your head and wings you were pretty sure were cardboard on your back.

"Uh, thanks. This is a little short, though. Don't you think?"

Gabriel smirked and said, "I think it's too long."

"Of course you would," you said, smacking his arm lightly. You kissed him quickly, then walked away to check on the cookies. As you shut the oven, the doorbell rang and Gabriel dragged you aside to hand candy out to the first trick-or-treaters of the night.

Gabe opened the door with his bowl of candy in one hand. Three little kids stood at the door, holding out their plastic jack-o-lantern candy baskets. All at once they yelled, "Trick or treat!"

You took a hand full of candy from the bowl and gave it to the children. The oldest, who couldn't have been more than ten, said 'thank you' first, and the two younger followed. "Happy Halloween!" Both you and Gabe exclaimed, then shut the door when the children got down the driveway.

"I never thought we'd be handing out candy on Halloween," you said, going back to the kitchen with Gabe in tow. Before Gabriel, you were a hunter. Having a huge house in a nice neighborhood with an archangel was not one of your plans, but it was way better than anything you had hoped for.

"Yet here we are," you added. Gabe set his hands on the counter behind you. "Here we are," he repeated, leaning in to kiss you gently. The doorbell rang again, making you pull away and laugh. Gabe let you walk out of the kitchen first, following close behind as you opened the door.

At around 11:30 the trick-or-treating had stopped. You sat down on the couch with the leftover candy next to you, digging around for a good piece of candy.

"I like Halloween," you said, pulling out a mini version of your favorite candy. Gabe fell down on the couch next to you and put his arm around you. "Well I like you-and that costume," he replied, reaching over you to grab a piece of candy.

"I'm beginning to think you like the costume more than me," you joked and ripped open the candy.

"You have a lot of things the costume doesn't have," he began. You sat up and gazed at him. "Like what?"

"A heart, a brain, blood," he listed, watching you out of the corner of his eye. "Amazing (e/c) eyes, beautiful hair, a great laugh, a smile that could make heaven brighter. . ." he trailed off. You giggled and kissed his cheek, leaning your head on his shoulder.

"Happy Halloween," Gabe said, pulling you closer to him.
"Happy Halloween, Gabe."
