Chapter 1
-before breakfast

Sasuke awoke at half past five on a cool April morning. Everyone in the village had been asleep when he decided to go for a morning walk. It had rained the night before, so the grass was wet and a sweet smell filled the air.
"KCAAW! KCAAW!" a few crows suddenly fluttered out of the forest and onto a distant tree. Sensing something was wrong; Sasuke ran into Konoha's forest and searched for the cause of the commotion.
"Kakashi?"
His shoes were sopping from the wet grass by the time he caught up with his sensei.
"Oh, Sasuke? What are you doing in the woods at this hour?"
"What are you talking about? What are YOU doing in the woods?"
"Well if you must know, I always wake up at this hour to uhmm…count the blades of grass." Kakashi said with a smile
"Yeah, like hell he does that," Sasuke mumbled to himself, "That doesn't explain why he's always late for everything…"
"What was that?"
"Ano…that doesn't explain why you're holding an ax!"
"Oh, this old thing? Heh," Kakashi put his free hand on the back of his head,
"I always like to cut down the extra trees that we don't need."
"That's a damn lie!" Sasuke shouted.
Kakashi closed his visible eye and there was a short pause as the wind blew in Sasuke's direction.
"My lies are really that unbelievable…?" Kakashi asked without really desiring an answer.
"You lie like shit!" Sasuke answered anyway.
"Alright you caught me, Tsunade-sama said that there was a disturbance in the forest and she wants me to take care of it."
"What kind of disturbance?" Sasuke asked half interested in what Kakashi had to say.
"A bijuu.(1)"
"Really? How big?" Sasuke suddenly became more interested at the chance to see the real life kyuubi of fire.
"It was supposed to be huge, but its turns out it was just a little runt." With his thumb he pointed behind his shoulder towards the ground where a little kitsune(2) was tied to a tree.
"It's a shame but orders are orders." Kakashi shrugged "I'll have to do away with it."
Sasuke shot a glance at the kitsune and his eyes widened. He suddenly got a feeling as though the earth had started spinning in retrograde and somewhere out in space was a super nova at that exact moment.
"Sasuke? You look like your going to shit your pants."
As Kakashi said this, Sasuke started walking towards the kitsune.
"Maybe you shouldn't—"
"Drop the ax, mutha facial.(3)" Sasuke said as serious as possible. "The kitsune is mine."
"Hn? What are you going to do with it?" Kakashi asked, amused.
"I said he's mine."
"Well, you'll have to ask Tsunade-sama about it."
1. Bijuu- any one of the nine, tailed beasts.
2. Kitsune- fox.
3. Mutha facial- not a spelling mistake.
