Deed

Watching from his perch high above the grounds of the newly rebuilt castle, King Caspian X tried to smother the sharp pangs of longing bubbling deep within his chest.

How could he possibly stifle these feelings when he could see, plain as day, the relaxed smile upon the face of the usually moody High King's face? The smile intensified as his siblings beckoned for him to join in their impromptu game of tag, which was Lucy's idea no doubt.

His gaze shifted from the frolicking pack of Pevensies, to the rather formidable stack of official looking papers, promising him threats of war, demands for lower taxes, and sore and tired eyes by the time he was through.

He sighed, and with one last gaze at the happy faces below, resigned himself to his desk. Ignoring the guilt he felt for wishing that he could trade the deed to his kingdom for the deed to his heart.
