Esme POV

Recently the family and I had decided to move back to Tennessee, Emmett's home town. We had settled in easily and had now been here for a couple months, not long enough to get to know the towns people just yet. Carlisle, my loving Mate, was still at the local hospital, you have no idea how busy he is there, even if we are in a small town with only about 4,000 people. Emmett is happy to be back in his home state.

He had been urging us for years to come back. So finally in the year 1990, we came back to his home land. Rosalie is happy that Emmett is happy.

Rosalie and I had decided to go hunting. I know my daughter can be vain sometimes, but truly she does have an amazingly loving heart.

Now my other sons, sometimes I feel almost sorry for them, they are so lonely, without mates. My poor Jasper and Edward are the only ones in the family who don't have someone to spend the rest of their forever's with.

"Esme. Are you going to stare into space all day, or just most of it?" Oh yes, I forgot Rosalie was here.

"Sorry, Rose darling, I got a little distracted. Shall we hunt?" Rosalie just nodded.

We stopped and listened, letting our senses reach out, closing our eyes to help, a few miles to our right there was a herd of deer, I recognised the soft hoof sounds and the woodsy scent, to our left, something more carnivorous, it smelled and sounded like a bear or two.

"I'm going to go left Esme, see you in a few minutes" Rose, said turning to me as her eyes went black with thirst. She was gone in a flash, the thirst taking over completely. My own throat caught fire as a new wind wafted the scent of the deer into my face. There was no more thought, only instinct and need as I, like Rose had only seconds before, gave into the thirst.

Rosalie's POV

I dashed after the bears, thirst taking over. I dodged the trees, moving at vampire speed. To a human I would be nothing but a blur, if that… I doubted their eyes would pick up anything at all really.

I stalked my prey, sinking into my hunting crouch, as if to add to the effect, it started pouring down raining, making the scene resemble one out of an amateur horror movie.

It had been raining for weeks. I'm surprised it hasn't flooded yet, but the sound of it covered any sound my approach may have made. the bears had no idea their lives were about to come to an end, the rain covering my scent completely. I launched at the closest one, he didn't see me coming until my razor sharp teeth pierced through his jugular; it was as effortless as biting through butter. I drained him completely, drinking his blood, soothing the aching thirst.

Not completely sated I followed the scent of the other bear, draining him too. Finally after killing the pair I was full, my eyes returned to their usual honey gold color. I must had been more thirsty than I originally thought.

Wiping the blood off of my mouth, I hurried to buried the bodies. I sniffed the air to locate Esme and just as I was about to run towards her; I heard it.

A cry. Not of an animal, but of a human baby. My eyes darted around, trying to locate the cry. I let my hearing range so I could pin point the source, not being able to see a baby. My hearing let me to a hollowed out, fallen tree. I walked over to it, cautiously and peered inside, my senses ranging out for anything out of the ordinary, I was on high alert. Inside was a pink blanket, and wrapped the pink blanket was a beautiful baby girl.
