Eren creeped quietly upstairs to check on Mikasa, the new member of his family. See, he was supposed to be sleeping on the couch, (Mikasa had his bed) but he couldn't seem to sleep. He kept thinking about the events of earlier in the day.

He stabbed, and stabbed at the human who seemed to had more beast within him than human, until he became unmoving. He sat on top of the monster, gasping and wiping off the sweat and blood on his face.

He turned to face the young angelic girl tied on the floor, who had eyes empty and broken with no light in them, no warmth, no hope, nothing but dark pools. The young girl twitched slightly, a slight hint of fear on her face. She seemed to be fading the longer she laid there, fading into a place where there was no return, and he knew he should make it stop.

"You're safe now. I'm not going to hurt you," he said gently

Eren suddenly snapped back to reality when he heard soft cries from Mikasa's room.

He knocked and called out, "Mikasa? Are you awake? Is everything okay?"

No reply, just more cries.

Eren opened the door worriedly, and his heart broke at what he saw.

Tears stained Mikasa's face, and dark shadows where under her eyes. Tears were streaming down her face freely, and Mikasa had a blanket wrapped around her, as if trying to create a little comforting shelter for herself. Her eyes were full of pure sadness, and her hair was sticking to her face.

Eren rushed over to her side, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Mikasa, are you okay?"

Mikasa looked up at him, and more tears slipped down her face, as she said with a trembling voice, "I…I…its just…my parents…"

The young girl broke down, and sobbed into her knees, curling into herself.

Eren climbed up next to her and hugged her into his cheek. Mikasa's eyes widened.

"I should've known. No one should've gone through that. I'm sorry."

Mikasa's little hands clenched Eren's chest, as she cried into him. Eren gently rubbed her head softly. He pulled the blanket around him as well, and they stayed like that for a while until Mikasa began to fall asleep.

Before she did, she whimpered quietly, "Please…don't leave me…"

Eren whispered to sleeping Mikasa, "I'll never leave you. I promise.
