I'll Be Back
"I'll be back." He had said what felt like a thousand things before he'd left for that fight, but those were the words holding her together. He said he'd be back, and she'd be damned if she didn't hold him to it.
She just hoped and prayed he'd come back in one piece, not shredded beyond recognition or stuck in his ghost form because his human one had ceased to exist.
Why the hell hadn't she just spit out her feelings before letting him fly off? Sure, she'd been cut off, but why the hell hadn't she stopped him and said those words.
"I love you." That's what Sam had been trying to say before he left, but she never got the chance. She regretted it more and more with every passing moment. She should have told him before he left, she had the chance. Who knows if he'll come back now?
Danny had to win. If this ghost king got the better of him, she'd lose her mind.
It really was those three little words holding her together.
"I'll be back."
She never did realize the power those three little words had until he'd said them. Until they became her sole hope that her ghost boy really would be back.
"Danny, come back to me." Sam whispered into the still air. She must have said those words a thousand times while Danny fought.
It wasn't until Vlad brought his unconscious body back to the house that Sam realized just how close her world had come to crashing down around her. She needed Danny, and she'd nearly lost him before she could tell him the truth.
"Danny, I love you." No one was around to hear her softly utter those words to his still body. He hadn't heard the,, but at least she'd finally said them.
"I'll be back." Those words would ring in her mind during every fight until the end of time.
Three little words were all she had to keep her together.
This has got to be the one story I actually know where it came from... :P
It is true though, you never know how much power a phrase as simple as "I'll be back." holds until it's the only thing holding you together.
