Winter Sleep
(Inspired by the song)
Summary: Ziggy is slowly bringing K into his world of warmth. K is putting up a struggle, but is wiggling her way in.
They took her as a child. Stole her away one day when she was defenseless. A not-so-simple child caught up in the strings of a corrupted organization.
They led her to believe this work was her reason for exsisting. With false smiles and hollow words of encouragment, they urged her on. And she clung to them, holding onto some small piece of childhood tucked away in the recesses of her complex mind. The part that loved to be praised.
She felt like she was alone. There was no one who truly cared for her. Life became a routine. The lines of reality blurred with distant memories and dreams of freedom.
Then they came along. Brought up in the same manner as herself, they came so close to breaking her barrier and finding the child within. A simple pencil punctured the outer shell and weakened her defenses.
She had the notion of love down. Strong feelings for others that made you say things that seemed irrational. She made a point to keep the team out of her heart. To protect herself from more heartache.
Then he came along and planted a feeling in her chest. It grew like a weed, creeping around every emotion and squeezing the life out of her so she couldn't think in his presence.
But he heard her call. The silent message she had sent out since her new exsistance came into play. He called back, answering her question. He heard her loud and clear.
He wrapped his being around her, drawing her in with sincere promises and kind words of caring. He made her feel comforted, made her feel like she was no longer alone. He melted her, broke through her barrier like it was a simple glass figure. Fragile and cold. But his warmth made the life in her overflow, and she let herself relish in his comfort. In his arms. She let go of the numb feeling, and slowly regained her bearings of the real world. He blurred the lines of reality and dreams, making new memories in his crystline way. The barrier shattered and all the things she had kept inside flooded out into his world, creating an innocent world where she was merely a child again.
And always ahead of her, patiently waiting, he stood. Brown curls blowing in the non-exsistant breeze, chocolately eyes shinning as she walked towards him.
Her procession into his world was a slow one, and it would take time, but he would wait. He would wait and encourage her until she was ready to wake from her winter sleep and join him in his world of eternal spring.
